Huawei set to reveal 5G foldable phone at MWC

Posted on

As smartphones seem to have almost all the bells and whistles one could ask for, device manufacturers are finding new ways to catch consumers’ attention, and this time around is by introducing foldable form factors.

Samsung plans to launch its foldable Galaxy’s 10th edition phone at an Unpacked event this month, but today Huawei took to Twitter that it will too be launching a new foldable smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2019 on the 24th February. The company’s plan to release foldable phones has been around since early-2018, and Huawei again confirmed this in October last year. The teaser image accompanying the announcement reveals a foldable smartphone with a very visible V-shaped bend. Apparently, this foldable smartphone will also be the first of its form factor to support 5G connectivity.

Although 5G networks are not widely available yet, this addition may turn a few more heads if Samsung’s device doesn’t offer the same. Huawei is probably trying to create some hype for its upcoming MWC conference. And the company may have also dropped this announcement to avoid being overshadowed by Samsung.
