Indonesia’s IDN Media acquires multi-platform e-Sports company

IDN Media, an Indonesian media company that targets at millennials and Generation Z, has acquired GGWP.ID for an undisclosed amount.

IDN Media, currently operates IDN Times, Popbela.com, Popmama.com, Yummy, IDN Creative, IDN Event, and IDN Creator Network, plans to make its new acquisition the ‘ESPN’ of e-Sports in Indonesia. The company also aims to build awareness and exposure to the opportunities that e-Sports can bring to society, including to e-Sports players, enthusiasts, content creators, and its brands.

GGWP.ID is a multi-platform e-Sports company with four core business units which are eSports Media, eSports Tournament Platform, eSports Team, and eSports Creative, covering media for e-Sports enthusiasts to organizing tournaments. Also, the company hosts Game Prime, a gaming event in the country, together with BEKRAF, Republik Indonesia/IACE (Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy) and AGI (Asosiasi Game Indonesia), an Indonesian game association.

Early in 2019, IDN Media raised a Series C funding round led by EV Growth, a joint venture of East Ventures, Sinar Mas, and Yahoo! Japan.
