Alibaba launches QwenWork globally with web and desktop AI agent

Alibaba has released an international edition of QwenWork, making its workplace artificial intelligence agent available worldwide through a public beta on both web and desktop. The platform caters to individual professionals and organisations, with Alibaba actively targeting user bases across Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

At its core, QwenWork consolidates the capabilities of Alibaba’s QoderWork, MuleRun and Wukong AI agents into a single environment. Users outline their objectives in natural language, leaving the platform to assess the necessary capabilities and execute each required step in sequence. Throughout the process, individuals can track progress in real time, inspect intermediate results and provide ongoing guidance to refine the final output. When granted appropriate permissions, the agent can also independently navigate websites, control a computer interface and interact with authorised external services and data sources.

QwenWork handles multi-step and recurring work

The agent is engineered to conduct research, analyse information, draft comprehensive documents and orchestrate complex multi-step workflows. Recurring tasks can be scheduled for automated execution, while integrated connectors allow the system to draw upon external services and data repositories.

Within the desktop application, users can take advantage of an optional capability named Awareness. This feature records preferred working conventions and collaboration styles, maintaining personal preferences and previous context across sessions so that users do not have to repeat their instructions. Individuals retain full control over this setting and can disable Awareness at any moment. Furthermore, established routines that yield successful results can be stored as reusable Skills for subsequent projects. Combined, these mechanisms ensure that complete workflows, from initial research and document compilation to external service integration and routine automation, remain managed directly inside QwenWork.

Web apps and media creation are built in

Beyond document handling and automated workflows, QwenWork can construct and deploy functional web applications from natural-language instructions, removing the need for users to write code or configure server hosting. The workspace similarly supports the end-to-end creation and processing of text, images, video and audio. By unifying workplace tasks, multimedia generation and application development, Alibaba provides an environment where users can manage diverse assignments without switching between separate tools.

Access to the International Edition is provided through a subscription model featuring Basic and Advanced tiers, which deliver varying levels of artificial intelligence capability ranging from everyday content generation to advanced reasoning and prolonged professional tasks. The interface currently supports English and Simplified Chinese, with planned rollouts for Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and other languages. Through this global release, Alibaba is expanding QwenWork well beyond China to establish a presence among international professionals.
