BenQ launches ScreenBar Halo 2 in Singapore to improve lighting comfort for professionals

BenQ launches ScreenBar Halo 2 in Singapore, featuring dual lighting and smart functions to boost eye comfort for professionals.

BenQ has officially launched its latest flagship monitor light, the ScreenBar Halo 2, in Singapore. Designed for professionals working in low-light conditions, the next-generation lighting device combines academic research and user feedback to deliver a more comfortable and eye-friendly experience.

The new model builds on the success of its predecessor with key upgrades to both design and functionality. It features BenQ’s dual-light system with both front and rear illumination, aimed at reducing visual fatigue during long hours of screen use.

Advanced lighting design to reduce eye strain

The ScreenBar Halo 2 introduces a triple-curvature backlight that increases rear light coverage by over 400%, softening the contrast between monitor brightness and the surrounding environment. This helps to prevent common issues such as dry eyes and headaches, particularly when working in dark rooms.

In front, the ASYM-Light design uses an 18-degree cut-off angle to eliminate screen glare while ensuring light does not shine directly into the eyes. BenQ developed the light with input from a study conducted in partnership with the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, which found that balanced ambient lighting can significantly improve visual comfort.

The lighting system also adheres to ANSI standards, maintaining an ideal luminance ratio of 3:1 between the screen and surrounding areas, which helps prevent visual fatigue.

Improved usability and smart features

The control interface of the Halo 2 has been redesigned with a new anti-fingerprint control knob that allows precise adjustments in brightness (0–100%) and colour temperature (2700K–6500K). “We know professionals demand precision in lighting,” said JC Pan, Chief Product Designer at BenQ Smart Lighting. “That’s why we’ve revamped the control knob… ideal for tasks like colour grading or video editing.”

The mounting system has also been upgraded. Instead of a traditional clip, the light uses a zinc-alloy clamp based on BenQ’s gravity-based design. This approach ensures a stable fit while being gentle on screens, including ultra-slim and curved monitors. “It gently rests on the monitor rather than clipping onto it, which prevents damage and offers greater compatibility,” said Judy Yang, Lead Mechanical Engineer at BenQ.

The product is particularly suited to hybrid workers, programmers, designers, gamers, and finance professionals who spend long hours at their desks. It includes smart features such as auto-dimming, memory settings, and auto on/off functions, designed to provide a seamless experience that adapts to daily use.

Regional promotion and availability

The ScreenBar Halo 2 was created in collaboration with US-based MINIMAL Design, led by former Nike Global Creative Director Scott Wilson. It features a modern metallic finish that blends into most workspace setups.

To mark the product’s launch in Singapore and across the region, BenQ is offering a limited-time early bird promotion on Shopee SG. From 5 June 2025 at 8:00 PM to 8 June 2025, the ScreenBar Halo 2 will be available for S$239, down from its usual retail price of S$289.
