FPT featured in Discovery Channel documentary on Vietnam’s tech revolution

New Discovery Channel documentary "Silicon Delta" highlights FPT's role in Vietnam's tech revolution and global expansion. Now available to stream.

A new documentary, “Silicon Delta – The Story of Vietnam’s Tech Revolution,” featuring FPT Corporation, premiered today on the Discovery Channel. The programme, available in ten languages, including English, Japanese, German, and Korean, highlights Vietnam’s rapid rise as Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economy.

The 30-minute documentary traces the journey of Vietnam’s tech sector, showcasing the country’s progress, achievements, and its promising future as a global workforce leader. FPT’s story is central to the documentary, reflecting the nation’s development into a multibillion-dollar tech hub. The documentary follows the company from its early days to its position as one of Asia’s top 50 IT services companies.

FPT’s rise mirrors Vietnam’s tech growth

Founded as a homegrown enterprise, FPT’s journey to the global stage mirrors Vietnam’s broader technological and socioeconomic advancements. The documentary covers how FPT navigated the challenges of the tech industry while remaining at the forefront of innovation and expansion.

It highlights FPT’s early days, where Vietnam’s entrepreneurial spirit and economic reforms enabled its creation. This foundation led to significant breakthroughs, such as securing crucial global partnerships. One major turning point was FPT’s decision to expand internationally, including a significant client meeting in Japan during the dot-com boom of the 1990s. This meeting was pivotal in shaping FPT’s future, establishing its own education system for nurturing future innovators.

FPT’s resilience and continuous push for innovation have driven Vietnam’s tech industry forward. The company’s focus on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), automotive technology, and semiconductors has not only strengthened its position in the tech world but has also helped Vietnam become a key player in global tech development.

Leaders reflect on FPT’s global impact

FPT’s Founder and Chairman, Dr. Truong Gia Binh, said: “FPT was founded as a means for survival, and it was the ambition to uplift a nation from poverty and showcase Vietnam’s intelligence to the world that fueled our growth. To this day, we remain steadfast in our commitment to this legacy, continuously building a highly skilled workforce, especially in AI, semiconductors, and automotive technology, to lead both Vietnam and global transformation movements.”

FPT Software Chairwoman, Chu Thi Thanh Ha, added: “This documentary captures the collective commitment and relentless efforts of many FPT generations who dared to dream big and act boldly. 25 years ago, we made a proud decision to ‘Go global or die,’ a bold move crucial for our fate and a game-changer for Vietnam at that time. Today, this daring spirit remains embedded in the DNA of every FPT member and will continue to be passed on to future generations as we venture into new frontiers in technology and innovation.”

FPT’s global expansion and future

FPT’s international expansion has been instrumental in shaping Vietnam’s global tech presence. The documentary highlights how FPT has overcome various obstacles to remain a significant player in global markets. FPT’s story continues as the company sets its sights on future innovations, particularly in AI, digital transformation, and semiconductors.

The documentary is now available on Discovery Channel in Southeast Asia, Japan, and Germany, giving audiences worldwide an inside look at how Vietnam and FPT have transformed into tech leaders on the global stage.
