Garmin launches its largest dive computer, the Descent X50i

Garmin Singapore launches the Descent X50i, a large-format dive computer with advanced underwater communication and navigation features.

Garmin Singapore has unveiled the Descent X50i, its most substantial dive computer to date, featuring a three-inch colour touchscreen display. This advanced device leverages SubWave sonar technology, enabling divers to communicate underwater and monitor vital statistics such as tank pressure, depth, and distance. This technology ensures safety in conditions where visibility is compromised. The Descent X50i is also equipped with an integrated backup dive light, a 20 ATM dive rating, and durable metal buttons that are leakproof, enhancing its utility for both technical and recreational divers.

Enhanced readability and utility for divers

The Descent X50i boasts a large, vibrant display that allows divers to read data easily at a glance. The touchscreen simplifies the setup and is perfect for navigating through maps and settings as divers prepare for their underwater journeys. Additionally, the computer includes a durable sapphire lens and a bright backup dive light suitable for use underwater. It comes with dual elastic bands designed for comfort and security, featuring buckles with an arrowhead attachment for easy one-handed closure and an adjustment lock to prevent slipping.

Advanced features for exploring underwater

The Descent X50i is designed with the specific needs of divers in mind. It offers air integration to monitor air pressure when paired with a Descent T2 transceiver and can track the tank pressure, depth, and distance of up to eight divers within a 10-meter range. The device also facilitates diver-to-diver communication through preset messages using SubWave technology for distances up to 30 meters. For planning dives, the DiveView maps feature preloaded bathymetric depth contours and over 4,000 dive sites globally. Additional functionalities include an in-dive depth chart, ascent dive profile visualisation, and access to tide data to ensure divers are well-informed of ocean conditions.

Utility above water

Once back on dry land, divers can use the Garmin Dive app to review their dive logs, track gear, take notes, and share dive details. The device’s built-in GPS helps divers navigate to dive sites worldwide and track their entry and exit points on the surface with high accuracy. The Descent X50i also comes with a carrying case for convenient storage between dives.
