HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway brings robust enterprise-grade security to small and medium businesses

HPE launches the Instant On Secure Gateway, offering SMBs enterprise-grade security with simple management and affordable pricing.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has launched a new security solution designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway aims to help these businesses protect their networks from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, without the need for large IT teams or substantial budgets.

A comprehensive security solution for SMBs

The new HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway, which was unveiled at HPE’s Customer Innovation Center in Singapore on 8 May 2025, combines advanced security features typically found in enterprise-grade solutions with easy-to-manage deployment. Mark Ablett, Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan at HPE Aruba Networking, and Rajanikanth Urs Mc, APJ SMB Sales Director at HPE Aruba Networking, discussed the solution’s benefits for SMBs in the region.

The secure gateway is designed to help SMBs manage and protect their networks without needing extensive technical knowledge. It acts as a first line of defence, intelligently monitoring, filtering, and managing network traffic. Its key features include firewall protection, intrusion detection and prevention, VPN support, and WAN high availability. These security measures work together to ensure that only authorised activity is allowed while proactively blocking malicious threats.

Enterprise-grade protection for SMBs

According to Amol Mitra, Vice President and General Manager for Worldwide Small and Medium Business at HPE Aruba Networking, SMBs are under constant pressure to safeguard their networks in the face of evolving cyber threats. However, many lack the resources or dedicated teams to deploy traditional security solutions effectively.

“Without dedicated security teams or substantial budgets, many SMBs struggle to protect their networks effectively,” said Mitra. “The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway addresses this gap, offering SMBs enterprise-grade protection without the need for extensive resources, empowering them to stay secure in a rapidly changing digital world.”

The gateway comes in two variants, catering to different performance and security needs:

  • HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway SG1004: This model is a 1-gigabit, 4-port wired secure gateway offering basic routing, VPN, firewall, and IDS/IPS options.
  • HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway SG2505P: A multi-gig, 5-port secure gateway with higher performance and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, capable of powering access points with a total power budget of 64W.

Strengthening SMBs’ growth potential

The solution is particularly relevant for SMBs in the Asia Pacific and Japan regions, where businesses play a vital role in driving economic growth. Ablett emphasised that, while SMBs are crucial to local economies, they need tailored solutions to overcome their specific challenges.

“The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway empowers these businesses with advanced, yet simple-to-manage security solutions that safeguard their networks and streamline operations,” said Ablett. “This innovation is key to empowering SMBs to innovate and expand with confidence in an increasingly connected world.”

Key benefits for SMBs

The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway offers several advantages to SMBs:

  • Enhanced protection and operational efficiency: Continuous monitoring of network traffic and automatic updates to IDS/IPS signatures ensures real-time threat detection and prevention. By consolidating key security functions, businesses can streamline their network security management.
  • Cost savings and regulatory compliance: The integrated security platform reduces the need for multiple tools and vendors, lowering hardware costs. High availability ensures minimal downtime, and automated incident response speeds up threat resolution. The solution also aids in regulatory compliance with automated data protection and audit trails.
  • Simplified management: The cloud-managed gateway provides a unified, intuitive interface, allowing SMBs to manage their entire network with ease. The subscription model ensures that businesses are not hit with hidden fees, making enterprise-grade security accessible and affordable.

The HPE Networking Instant On Secure Gateway is now available globally as of 5 May 2025.
