Lubrizol has expanded the laboratory capabilities of its Southeast Asia Innovation Center in Singapore, adding synthesis, analytical and physical sciences alongside formulation development to support customers across the region. Located in Jurong, the facility forms part of Lubrizol’s global innovation network and serves as a regional platform for customer collaboration, scientific development and technical work. Its expanded capabilities sit alongside existing application, formulation and technical testing functions, with the company supporting industries including energy storage, coatings, electronics, packaging, life sciences and healthcare.

Singapore centre gains broader laboratory capabilities

Established with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board, the Southeast Asia Innovation Center combines laboratories and testing facilities with immersive experience zones and dedicated spaces for technical training. Lubrizol said the additional capabilities are intended to deepen collaboration with customers and support the development of solutions for evolving market needs in Southeast Asia and beyond.

The expansion broadens the scope of scientific work available at the centre to include synthesis, analytical and physical sciences as well as formulation development. These capabilities complement its existing application, formulation and technical testing work, with Lubrizol aiming to increase the speed at which scientific expertise can be translated into commercial solutions.

Julie Edgar, Chief Technology Officer at Lubrizol, linked the expanded facilities to the company’s ability to turn scientific work into commercial solutions for customers. “Customers need innovation partners who can move with speed, apply deep insights and deliver market relevance,” Edgar said. “Our extensive technical capabilities at the Southeast Asia Innovation Center expand our ability to translate scientific expertise into commercial solutions, helping customers solve increasingly complex challenges and accelerate the path from innovation to market impact.”

Learning Labs programme launches in Singapore

Lubrizol is also launching its Learning Labs programme in Singapore as part of its global STEM education initiative. Designed to provide hands-on learning, mentoring and career exploration intended to inspire future scientists, engineers and innovators, the programme extends the initiative locally alongside the expansion of the company’s Southeast Asia Innovation Center. According to Lubrizol, the global Learning Labs initiative began in 2025 and has engaged more than 12,000 students through over 50 STEM learning experiences worldwide.

Henry Liu, Vice President, Asia Pacific at Lubrizol, described innovation and talent as important drivers of long-term growth and said the Singapore programme is intended to encourage the next generation of scientists, engineers and problem-solvers. He linked the Learning Labs initiative and Lubrizol’s Southeast Asia laboratory network to the company’s long-term commitment to Singapore as a hub for innovation, talent development and collaboration supporting growth across Asia Pacific.

Singapore Economic Development Board Executive Vice President Lim Wey-Len likewise linked the laboratory expansion with Singapore’s role in connecting Lubrizol with regional customers and developing talent for the specialty chemicals sector. “Lubrizol’s decision to expand its Southeast Asia Innovation Center reflects its confidence in Singapore as an innovation ecosystem, as well as a platform to connect with regional customers. The establishment of Lubrizol’s Learning Labs programme will also nurture the next generation of talent for Singapore’s growing specialty chemicals sector. We look forward to deepening our partnership with Lubrizol to capture new growth opportunities and advance innovation from Singapore for Asia and beyond,” Lim said.

To commemorate the expansion and the launch of the Learning Labs programme in Singapore, Lim joined Lubrizol President and CEO Rebecca Liebert, Liu and Edgar, together with employees, customers and industry partners.
