Airwallex wins three honours at Asia FinTech Awards 2025

Airwallex wins three awards at the Asia FinTech Awards 2025, including Banking Tech of the Year, Best Employer, and Director of the Year.

Airwallex has taken home three top honours at the Asia FinTech Awards 2025, making it the only company this year to achieve a hat-trick at the regional event. The global financial platform was recognised as Banking Tech of the Year, Best Employer of the Year, and also saw its Asia General Manager, Arnold Chan, named Director of the Year.

Recognition across fintech and leadership

The Asia FinTech Awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the region’s fast-growing financial technology industry. Airwallex was selected from hundreds of nominations across Asia, with the triple win highlighting the company’s leadership in technology, workplace culture, and management.

Lucy Liu, Co-founder and President of Airwallex, said the awards reflected the company’s broad achievements. “Being recognised across three categories is both humbling and energising. It validates the work we’ve put into building a platform that not only delivers the future of global banking through technology, but also nurtures the best people and leaders in the industry. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and even more excited for what lies ahead,” she said.

Arnold Chan, General Manager for Asia Pacific, who was named Director of the Year, described the award as a team effort. “It is a privilege to be recognised by the industry, but this award is not just about me, it reflects the dedication of our incredible teams at Airwallex. Every day, they work tirelessly to deliver impact for our customers across APAC and beyond,” he said.

Commitment to innovation and people

The Banking Tech of the Year award underscored Airwallex’s role in reshaping how companies manage accounts, access capital, control expenses, and integrate financial services with efficiency and security. The Best Employer of the Year recognition came as Airwallex marked its 10th anniversary, highlighting its focus on employee growth, workplace wellbeing, and opportunities for professional development.

Richard Yan, Vice President of People & Talent at Airwallex, said, “Being named Best Employer of the Year in our 10th anniversary year makes this recognition especially meaningful. There are countless success stories across our teams globally and this award celebrates the work the teams are doing day in, day out. It reflects the operating principles we’ve built Airwallex on, reaffirms the quality of talent we have, and showcases opportunities our team have to flourish while shaping the future of global banking together.”

Judges’ comments on the wins

The judges praised Airwallex’s ability to provide innovative banking solutions that eliminate the need for customers to open foreign accounts while supporting multi-currency balances. They highlighted strong customer testimonials as proof of the effectiveness of its services.

For Best Employer of the Year, judges cited Airwallex’s integration of learning into everyday work, alongside health and social initiatives that support employees beyond the workplace. In awarding Director of the Year to Arnold Chan, judges noted his consistent achievements, including leading Airwallex into new geographical markets, supporting startups, and securing new licences to expand operations.

The triple recognition cements Airwallex’s position as one of the leading names in Asia’s fintech sector, with its technology, people strategy, and leadership all acknowledged at one of the industry’s most respected events.
