Exclusive space-themed 14-inch OLED laptop with futuristic ZenVision 3.5" companion display commemorates 25th anniversary of the first ASUS laptop sent into space

ASUS today announced the exclusive Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition (UX5401ZAS), a prestigious special-edition laptop built to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the first ASUS laptop sent into space, and to continue exploring beyond the limits and go in search of incredible.

Featuring unique space-themed design details on the lid and palm-rest area and finished in a special Zero-G Titanium colour, the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition celebrates a key milestone in the history of ASUS laptops. The out-of-this-world design embraces the ASUS spirit of innovation, encouraging users to start their voyage of discovery and explore beyond the limits.

Exclusive to the Space Edition is its futuristic ZenVision display, a 3.5-inch OLED companion display mounted externally on the lid. This can show customizable messages and space-themed animations, allowing the user to give those around them a window into their personality.

Built to withstand the rigors of space travel, the Space Edition has been torture-tested using the space-grade protocols specified by the US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-16A, so it is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and vibration.

This out-of-this-world laptop is built to deliver stellar performance, powered by 12th Generation Intel Core i7 H-Series processors and Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16 GB RAM, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD, and WiFi 6E. ASUS announces the availability of the exclusive Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition in Singapore - 1

Twenty-five years ago, the ASUS P6300 laptop spent 600 days in orbit on the famous Mir space station, the first continuously inhabited long-term research station in space. While the ASUS laptop was on board, Mir faced power outages and fires, but the laptop lasted the entire mission without defect. The P6300 laptop set a high standard for every product designed and developed by ASUS. We have designed this very special Zenbook Space Edition to commemorate the past, and to celebrate the future.

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition has a unique and exclusive design featuring stunning space-themed design details on the lid and keyboard. These include a wireframe rendering of the Mir space station along with morse code messages that include the Latin phrase Ad Astra Per Aspera (‘Through Hardships to the Stars’). The all-metal laptop is finished in a specially commissioned Zero-G Titanium colour that reflects the widespread use of titanium in spacecraft construction.

The exclusive ZenVision display was inspired by the portholes in Mir, through which astronauts could view the cosmos. ZenVision gives users the opportunity to connect with those around them and offer a window into their personality.

ZenVision is a 3.5-inch OLED monochrome display located on the lid of the laptop that can display static text or graphic animations. Space Theme mode displays an animated theme, while Smart Notifications mode can show time, date or battery status. In Personal Identity Tag, custom text messages can be displayed for all to see. The information displayed on ZenVision is configured via the easy-to-use MyASUS app.

Space-grade durability

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is designed to withstand the punishing demands of space travel. It is torture-tested to space-grade standards for resistance to extreme vibration and temperature, using the US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-016A testing protocols. It is capable of withstanding extreme vibration that is 4 times more than our standard Military Grade durability as well as resisting the extreme temperatures when the laptop is operational from -24 to 61 ͦ C. Additionally, it meets the US Department of Defense’s MIL-STD 810H durability standards, including power-on drop tests and operation under extreme humidity and altitude. The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition’s durability is one step beyond the ordinary standards set by the industry.

Stellar performance

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition users can enjoy stellar all-round performance for effortless productivity with the latest 12th Generation Intel Core i7 H-Series processors, 16 GB RAM and Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. To ensure maximum performance whenever it’s needed, the dual-fan ASUS IceCool thermal technology can be configured in one of three modes via the MyASUS app.

It also features an ultrafast 1TB PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD storage and gigabit-class Intel WiFi 6E (802.11ax) so waiting for apps or websites is a thing of the past. The WiFi 6E in the Space Edition is made even better by ASUS WiFi Master technology, which includes ASUS WiFi Stabilizer and ASUS WiFi SmartConnect. In order to give WiFi connections rock-solid stability, WiFi Stabilizer filters out wireless interference so users will always enjoy the fastest possible speeds. WiFi SmartConnect automatically selects the best WiFi source, so the Space Edition connects seamlessly to the best WiFi signal and known mobile hotspots.

The Space Edition’s brilliant 2.8K OLED 90Hz HDR NanoEdge touchscreen has an expansive 16:10 aspect ratio that lets users see more of web pages and documents than a standard 16:9 display. The cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut and PANTONE Validated colour accuracy deliver ultra-vivid and ultra-accurate colours, and the DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification means users can see true blacks for enhanced realism. It’s also TÜV-certified for low blue-light emissions, ensuring the user’s eyes are cared for.
