Charge+ opens 38-point EV charging cluster at Tampines Retail Park

Charge+ has unveiled a major infrastructure expansion at Tampines Retail Park, establishing what it describes as the largest electric vehicle charging cluster in the area. Spanning Giant Hypermarket, IKEA Tampines, COURTS Tampines, and T-Space, the new development introduces 38 individual charging points to serve motorists in eastern Singapore.

To accommodate different dwell times, the cluster blends high-speed direct current chargers with alternating current units suited for longer visits. This dual setup allows EV owners to choose an appropriate charging speed based on whether they need a quick top-up or plan an extended shopping trip.

Charging points span four buildings

The allocation across the four commercial properties reflects their varied visitor profiles and parking patterns. IKEA Tampines hosts the largest portion of the network with 20 charging points, comprising two direct current and 18 alternating current chargers. COURTS Tampines provides eight points, divided into two direct current and six alternating current units, while T-Space offers two direct current chargers. Meanwhile, Giant Hypermarket houses eight points, six of which are direct current chargers that together form the fast-charging core of the cluster.

Baey Yam Keng, Minister of State for Transport and for Culture, Community and Youth, who is also Mayor of the North East District, officially opened the fast-charging hub at Giant on 31 July.

Charge+ has aligned this rollout with broader public transport strategies, specifically the Land Transport Authority’s initiative to establish fast-charging hubs in every HDB town across Singapore. Designed to complement existing overnight and long-stay charging infrastructure, these regional hubs support both the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the national target to transition all vehicles to cleaner energy sources by 2040.

Designed around retail visits

By distributing infrastructure across four neighbouring sites, the cluster enables drivers to recharge their vehicles while shopping, dining, or running errands. To further encourage usage, vehicle owners enjoy free parking at the designated charging bays for the duration of their charging session.

Situated along the Tampines Expressway near the Pan Island Expressway interchange, the facility is positioned to serve local residents from Tampines, Pasir Ris, Punggol, and Sengkang, alongside motorists heading towards Changi Airport. Charge+ also noted that its charging tariffs remain among the most competitive across Singapore’s charging operators.

Drivers can also take advantage of commercial partnerships at the location. Through the yuu Rewards Club, which includes Charge+, Giant, 7-Eleven, and Guardian, motorists can earn or redeem reward points across participating outlets in Tampines Retail Park. Furthermore, customers paying with a DBS yuu Visa Card can receive cash rebates of up to 18% on their charging expenses.

This deployment builds upon the company’s regional footprint. Charge+ currently operates over 6,000 charging points across Southeast Asia, with active operations in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia, and maintains a long-term goal of reaching 30,000 charging points globally by 2030.
