Commvault partners with BeyondTrust to strengthen privileged access security

Commvault and BeyondTrust have partnered to integrate identity security with data protection, helping businesses manage privileged access and boost cyber resilience.

Commvault, a leader in cyber resilience and data protection for hybrid cloud environments, has announced a new partnership with BeyondTrust, a global provider of identity security solutions. The collaboration integrates BeyondTrust’s Password Safe privileged access management (PAM) system with the Commvault Cloud cyber resilience platform, enabling organisations to reduce risks from unauthorised access and improve data recovery capabilities.

The integration aims to help enterprises secure human and machine identities across increasingly complex IT environments. As businesses rely more on automation, applications and AI agents, machine identities have become a significant and often overlooked attack surface. By combining Commvault Cloud’s scalability and advanced data protection with BeyondTrust’s centralised control of credentials, companies can better manage access to sensitive systems and information.

David Manks, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at BeyondTrust, said, “Today’s organisations are facing increasingly complex identity environments, with every human, machine, application, and agentic AI identity representing a potential threat. This new integration between BeyondTrust and Commvault provides our customers with exceptional visibility and control in managing privileged access within their backup and recovery environments, while advancing cyber resilience via Commvault Cloud.”

Key capabilities introduced by the integration

Through the collaboration, customers gain a secure and centralised way to store and manage credentials. The integration supports just-in-time (JIT) access, issuing unique, temporary credentials that expire once a task is complete. This approach reduces the risk of credential misuse and account hijacking.

Audit and compliance processes are also strengthened. Organisations can maintain a detailed audit trail, enforce least privilege principles, rotate passwords automatically and control third-party access. This is particularly valuable for businesses operating under strict regulatory requirements.

Additionally, the solution enhances cyber resilience by combining threat detection, AI-driven data protection and rapid recovery through the Commvault Cloud platform. This unified approach supports workloads across diverse environments, including cloud and on-premises systems.

Alan Atkinson, Chief Business Development Officer at Commvault, said, “Securing access points is a critical component of a cyber resilience strategy. In partnering with BeyondTrust, we provide customers innovative options to manage privileged access within their backup and recovery environments in order to combat threats tied to stolen logins and unauthorised access.”

Available to customers globally

The combined solution is now available to customers worldwide at no additional cost. Businesses can immediately integrate BeyondTrust Password Safe with their Commvault Cloud environment to improve access security and reduce operational risk.

This move reflects growing demand for robust identity security as organisations face more sophisticated cyberattacks targeting credentials and backup systems. By uniting data protection and privileged access controls, Commvault and BeyondTrust aim to help enterprises protect critical assets while simplifying management and compliance.
