Deel acquires Clarity to extend identity checks across workforce platform
Global HR platform Deel expands its security capabilities with the acquisition of Clarity, integrating continuous deepfake detection and pre-to-post-hire identity protection into Deel IT.
Deel has acquired AI cybersecurity company Clarity, adding identity verification, deepfake detection and fraud prevention technology to its global workforce platform.
By bringing Clarity into its portfolio, Deel will directly link identity checks performed prior to employment with security controls applied after a worker joins an organisation. This integration connects initial pre-hire verification and background checks with subsequent device provisioning and secure workforce access managed through Deel IT. The transaction marks Deel’s 15th acquisition to date, with Clarity’s proprietary technology and engineering team fully joining the business.
Identity verification continues after hiring
Clarity specialises in AI technology engineered to verify identities while spotting deepfakes and other sophisticated forms of fraud. Deel intends to deploy these capabilities throughout the entire workforce lifecycle, starting during recruitment and continuing through onboarding, device provisioning and everyday system access. Known as continuous identity verification, this strategy moves away from single point-in-time checks during hiring in favour of maintaining persistent safeguards throughout a worker’s tenure.
“AI is changing every part of how companies build global teams, but it’s also changing the threat landscape,” said Alex Bouaziz, co-founder and chief executive of Deel. “Organisations need more than point-in-time verification; they need continuous trust. Bringing Clarity and its world-class AI talent into Deel gives us the capabilities to build trusted identity security directly into our platform. This lets customers confidently hire, onboard, and manage verified teams globally, with continuous safeguards that evolve as threats get smarter.”
By connecting Clarity’s technology with Deel IT, which handles device provisioning and workforce access, Deel is creating a unified identity layer across recruitment, onboarding and ongoing employment. This internal AI capability will complement Deel’s existing network of background-check partners, allowing customers to maintain provider choice while gaining access to enhanced native security.
“Trust shouldn’t end after a background check on day one,” said Michael Matias, co-founder and chief executive of Clarity. “We built Clarity to continuously verify identity in an era where AI makes fraud more convincing than ever. Joining Deel allows us to bring that vision to one of the world’s largest global workforce platforms and help organisations confidently embrace AI while strengthening security across the entire employee journey.”
Deel currently delivers hiring, workforce management and payment services to more than 40,000 businesses across over 150 countries, with the Clarity acquisition adding identity and fraud-prevention technology to processes the platform already supports.
Profitable growth supports further AI investment
The acquisition was announced alongside financial results showing Deel’s annual recurring revenue surpassed US$1.5 billion during the first half of 2026. Continued profitable growth generated the operational scale needed to support further investments in proprietary AI technology and acquisitions. Beyond identity and security controls, Deel’s stated focus includes productivity tools required when organisations integrate AI into workforce operations.
Bringing Clarity’s technology and engineers in-house allows Deel to expand its internal security development while continuing its strategy of adding specialised functions through mergers and acquisitions. Management describes this approach as a capital-efficient way to expand platform services while preserving customer choice. Ultimately, using Clarity’s technology across hiring, onboarding, device provisioning and workforce access creates a common identity system that follows employees throughout their time with an organisation.
