Google introduces Pixel Buds 2a with active noise cancellation

Google launches Pixel Buds 2a with active noise cancellation, AI features, and longer battery life, available from 9 October for US$129.

Google has launched Pixel Buds 2a, the newest addition to its Pixel Buds range. The earbuds mark a first for the A-series with Active Noise Cancellation, while also bringing a more lightweight design, longer battery life, and AI-powered features through Google Gemini. Retailing at US$129, the earbuds are now available for pre-order and will go on sale from 9 October.

Comfortable design with water resistance

Pixel Buds 2a builds on the look of Pixel Buds Pro 2, offering a smaller, lighter design than earlier A-series models. The earbuds come with a twist-to-adjust stabiliser and four different eartip sizes to ensure a secure fit. Rated IP54 for sweat and water resistance, they are designed to withstand daily use, even during workouts or unexpected rain.

The new earbuds are available in two colour options, Iris and Hazel, created to complement other Pixel devices while also matching personal style preferences.

Enhanced sound powered by Tensor A1

At the core of Pixel Buds 2a is Google’s Tensor A1 processor, specifically designed for audio performance. The chip introduces Active Noise Cancellation to the A-series, paired with Silent Seal 1.5 technology to improve sound isolation. A custom speaker driver and new high-frequency chamber provide more detailed audio, while wind-blocking mesh covers and AI support deliver clearer call quality.

Battery life has also been extended significantly. With noise cancellation turned off, listening time doubles compared to the first-generation Pixel Buds A-series. Users can expect up to 7 hours of playback with noise cancellation enabled, or up to 20 hours when using the charging case. For the first time, Google has introduced a replaceable case battery, helping extend the product’s lifespan through repairability.

AI-powered assistance and seamless pairing

Pixel Buds 2a integrate Google Gemini, allowing users to access AI assistance without reaching for their phone. Commands such as message summaries, hands-free help, and local recommendations can be activated by voice or customised gestures.

The earbuds also pair effortlessly with Pixel phones and other devices. Multipoint support makes it possible to connect to more than one device at the same time, while Fast Pair enables quick connections. Through the Find Hub app, users can also locate misplaced earbuds on a map or ring them for faster retrieval.

Pixel Buds 2a will be available in stores from 9 October at the Google Store and other retail partners, offering advanced audio features and AI integration at an affordable price.
