iPhone 17 Pro dummy unit gives you a closer look at key design changes

A new iPhone 17 Pro dummy unit reveals a redesigned camera bar, a repositioned Apple logo, and hints at a new Sky Blue finish ahead of the September launch.

You’re getting a much clearer look at what Apple may have in store for its upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, thanks to a newly surfaced dummy unit that appears to confirm a few major design changes.

Shared by well-known tipster Majin Bu, the dummy unit highlights several expected updates, most notably, the repositioning of the Apple logo and a newly styled rear camera bar. If these mock-ups are accurate, you can expect the Apple logo to move slightly down, sitting squarely in the space between the camera section and the bottom of the phone.

The rear camera bar spans across the top

The most noticeable visual change is the redesigned rear camera system. The dummy shows a horizontal bar that stretches across the entire top portion of the phone. This marks a departure from the vertically stacked camera clusters seen in recent Pro models, such as the iPhone 16 Pro. The new bar layout is expected to house the upgraded camera components while providing the phone with a cleaner, more streamlined back panel.

This new setup might not just be about aesthetics—it could also help improve internal organisation or cooling, though that’s yet to be confirmed. With the camera bar now occupying the full width at the top, the Apple logo has been shifted lower to maintain symmetry and a balanced visual layout.

Familiar button layout, new colour options

From the side profile of the dummy unit, you’ll recognise familiar features such as the Action Button—first introduced in the iPhone 15 Pro—as well as the standard volume controls and the SIM card tray. However, there’s something new to notice: the overall finish appears darker than the existing Black Titanium option on the iPhone 16 Pro. This could indicate a slightly deeper tone, perhaps signalling a subtle evolution in materials or surface treatment.

There’s also buzz about new colours. Apple may introduce a fresh Sky Blue finish for the iPhone 17 Pro, which could potentially replace the Desert Titanium version currently offered. If true, this lighter, cooler hue would give fans something new to consider when choosing their next device.

Dummy units add weight to recent leaks

This isn’t the first time you’ve had a glimpse of Apple’s next-generation handsets. Back in May, AppleTrack released a video comparing dummy units of the entire iPhone 17 range. That video drew attention for highlighting the ultra-slim design of the iPhone 17 Air, another model expected to launch alongside the Pro.

Although dummy units don’t offer complete technical specifications, they’re often based on leaked schematics or early production data. As such, they give a reasonably accurate idea of what to expect, especially when multiple sources are aligned. With the iPhone 17 lineup likely to be unveiled in September, leaks like this will only fuel more excitement and speculation in the months to come.

If Apple sticks to tradition, the official announcement is expected to take place in early September, followed by pre-orders and a launch later in the month. Until then, dummy units like these offer your best preview of what’s next from Cupertino.
