LG introduces immersive audio with Apple Music on smart TVs

LG Electronics introduces Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos on smart TVs, offering a three-month free trial of Apple Music to enhance your listening experience.

LG Electronics is setting a new standard in home entertainment with the introduction of Spatial Audio featuring Dolby Atmos on its smart TVs. This week, LG announced that its OLED and QNED smart TVs are the first televisions equipped to support Apple Music in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos, delivering an unmatched audio experience that enhances the way music is enjoyed in the living room.

Three months of Apple Music free for LG TV users

In celebration of this pioneering achievement, LG is offering a three-month free trial of Apple Music to users of compatible LG Smart TVs worldwide. This promotion is available to anyone with an LG Smart TV model from 2018 onwards that runs webOS 4.0 or higher, including the StanbyME, StanbyME Go, and MyView Smart Monitor lifestyle screens. This offer allows users to explore Apple Music’s vast library, which boasts over 100 million songs and 30,000 expertly curated playlists without ads.

Seamless access and enhanced listening with Spatial Audio

LG Smart TV owners can easily access Apple Music using voice commands or through the Music Quick Card on their TV’s home screen. Once accessed, Apple Music enhances the listening experience by automatically playing tracks in Dolby Atmos when available. For those with Dolby Atmos-enabled LG soundbars, the system offers a harmonised sound that envelops the listener, creating a truly immersive audio environment without the need to adjust the volume, thanks to a sophisticated loudness normalisation algorithm.

Even without a Dolby Atmos-supported TV, users can still enjoy the Spatial Audio experience by connecting their TV to a compatible LG soundbar. Additionally, LG TVs can connect to Apple AirPods and other Apple devices via Bluetooth, extending the immersive sound experience to personal audio devices.

Songs and albums available in Dolby Atmos are easily identifiable in Apple Music, thanks to clear labelling on the album’s detail page. Music enthusiasts can discover new dimensions in their favourite tracks with an extensive range of Dolby Atmos playlists curated by Apple Music.

Chris Jo, Senior Vice President of Platform Business at LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company, emphasized the transformative impact of this new feature. “The introduction of spatial sound with Dolby Atmos through Apple Music on LG TVs transforms how we listen to music on the big screen,” Jo stated. “LG is committed to elevating the content streaming experience for music enthusiasts globally and will continue to facilitate great music experiences across devices.”

This initiative not only highlights LG’s dedication to enhancing audio experiences but also showcases its commitment to making innovative features and services easily accessible through its user-friendly webOS platform.
