LG Electronics has unveiled pricing and availability details for its first Micro RGB television, marking the company’s entry into a display technology trend that gained momentum at CES 2026. The new model, the Micro RGB evo, is now open for pre-order and positioned as a premium offering in the brand’s television portfolio.

The launch follows closely on the heels of the company’s recent introduction of its ultra-thin Wallpaper television range, signalling a broader push by LG into high-end display innovations. The Micro RGB evo aims to extend the company’s reputation in advanced screen technology while introducing a new approach to colour accuracy and brightness performance.
A new display technology built on mini LED foundations
The Micro RGB evo represents the latest step in LG’s evolution of Mini LED-based display systems. The new television is powered by the company’s Micro RGB panel technology alongside its Alpha A11 AI processor, which drives performance across the system. The processor runs LG’s webOS platform and also controls the company’s Micro RGB Engine.
According to LG, the Micro RGB Engine manages the behaviour of individual light-emitting diodes within the display. Unlike earlier Mini LED televisions that rely on blue or white backlighting, the Micro RGB approach uses separate red, green and blue LEDs. Each LED can be controlled individually, allowing more precise colour management and lighting adjustments across the screen.
LG stated that the Micro RGB evo achieves full gamut coverage across colour standards, including DCI-P3, BT.2020 and Adobe RGB. The company added that the television offers “enhanced contrast and refined detail” through more than 1,000 dimming zones. These zones allow different parts of the screen to adjust brightness independently, which can help improve picture quality when displaying scenes with varying light levels.
The introduction of Micro RGB technology reflects a broader trend across the television industry. Several manufacturers are investigating similar display systems that seek to balance brightness, colour depth and energy efficiency. The technology is widely seen as a natural progression from Mini LED, offering an intermediate step between existing backlit systems and more advanced emissive technologies.
Comparing micro RGB with existing OLED technology
While Micro RGB technology promises improvements in colour representation, LG’s established OLED television line continues to offer its own advantages. OLED screens remain widely recognised for their deep blacks and precise contrast, which are achieved because individual pixels emit their own light and can switch off completely.
Micro RGB panels, by contrast, share similarities with Mini LED displays but offer more precise colour control through dedicated red, green and blue LEDs. This design allows the display to fine-tune colour output more accurately than systems that rely on a single light source filtered through colour layers. As a result, Micro RGB televisions may offer more vivid colours and improved brightness in certain viewing conditions.
However, the technology is still emerging and currently comes at a premium price. Compared with OLED and QD-OLED televisions, Micro RGB models are expected to remain less accessible to mainstream buyers in the near term. This higher cost reflects both the complexity of manufacturing individual coloured LEDs and the limited production scale at present.
Other industry players, including Samsung Electronics and TCL Technology, have also been exploring related display technologies. Their involvement indicates that Micro RGB-style systems could become a significant area of competition among major television brands in the coming years. As manufacturing processes improve and production volumes increase, analysts expect costs to fall gradually, making the technology more widely available.
Pricing, sizes and market positioning
The Micro RGB evo is available for pre-order directly through LG’s official website, with deliveries expected to follow standard release schedules in selected markets. The television is being introduced in three large-screen formats, designed to appeal primarily to premium home entertainment users and commercial installations.
Screen sizes include 75-inch, 86-inch, and 100-inch models. Pricing begins at US$5,000 for the 75-inch version, with costs rising for the larger variants. Although the company has not yet detailed the full pricing range for the higher-end sizes, the positioning clearly places the Micro RGB evo among LG’s most expensive consumer televisions.
This pricing strategy reflects the company’s intention to position the Micro RGB evo as a flagship product rather than a mass-market option. Large screen sizes, combined with advanced processing capabilities, suggest that LG is targeting buyers seeking cinematic viewing experiences in the home.
