Meta’s personal AI agent Muse launched in Singapore on 28 October, with ShopBack among its early local connector partners. By linking their ShopBack accounts, members can use conversational requests to search for travel options, compare shopping offers and find in-store dining deals, with Cashback available on travel and shopping purchases made through ShopBack.

Through the integration, Muse gains access to offers from ShopBack’s merchants and brand partners, allowing the agent to compare options and identify reward conditions within a conversation. Members can then follow a tracked link to complete a transaction themselves or authorise the agent to handle a booking or purchase on their behalf.

Travel comparisons include Cashback information

When planning trips, members can ask Muse to find flights to Tokyo in December or locate a family-friendly hotel near the beach for less than S$300 a night. Across ShopBack’s travel partners, the agent compares available options, including multi-city trips, and displays prices with the applicable Cashback included.

These results allow members to consider the cost of a booking with Cashback taken into account. Once an option is selected, Muse provides a tracked link through which the booking can be completed with the travel provider.

Shopping checks cover reward rates and restrictions

For retail purchases, members deciding whether to purchase a product immediately or wait for another offer can ask Muse to compare available deals. The agent checks which stores on ShopBack carry the item, compares their Cashback rates to identify the retailer offering the highest reward, and can also alert members when a store’s Cashback rate is about to increase.

Cashback eligibility forms an integral part of these checks. Muse identifies conditions that could prevent members from receiving their rewards, such as promotional codes that cannot be combined with Cashback. This allows members to review both the reward rate and any applicable restrictions before deciding where and when to buy.

Dining searches are also supported through the connector. A request for lunch deals in Singapore’s central business district, for example, prompts Muse to suggest restaurants with ShopBack offers. The agent can display deals that members already have, claim new ones during the conversation and explain how to pay at the counter using ShopBack Pay.

Members retain control over purchases

ShopBack says members remain responsible for approving transactions carried out by Muse. The agent can take a member’s ShopBack link and complete a booking or purchase once approval has been given, or members can follow the link and complete checkout themselves. In both cases, purchases are made with the merchant, while Cashback is credited to the member’s ShopBack account after confirmation.

Justin Lee, Chief Product Officer of ShopBack, described the difficulty personal agents face when accessing information designed for people browsing websites. “Personal AI agents are great because they get things done, not just give answers. But the web was built for people to read, not for agents to act on, and that makes good information harder for them to find. That’s where connectors from partners like ShopBack come in,” he said.

The ShopBack connector is available now to members in Singapore through the Muse app and website. To activate it, members can open the Connectors section in Muse, select ShopBack and sign in to their account, or type “Connect ShopBack” directly into the Muse chat to begin linking the services.
