The announcement introduces Oakley Meta as a new product line focused on sports and performance use cases, while Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) continues to evolve with new optical designs, software capabilities, and expanded accessibility features.
Oakley Meta targets performance and sports use cases
The Oakley Meta range positions AI glasses within athletic and high-intensity environments, combining Oakley’s sport-focused design with Meta’s wearable technology stack.
Two distinct product directions emerge within the Oakley lineup. The Oakley Meta HSTN is positioned for general users and fans, offering hands-free photo and video capture through a 12MP ultra-wide camera with 3K recording, alongside open-ear speakers and a five-microphone array. Battery life is rated at up to eight hours of typical use, with a charging case extending usage to 48 hours.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard, meanwhile, is designed specifically for athletes and training scenarios. It integrates with fitness platforms such as Strava and Garmin, allowing real-time tracking of metrics including heart rate and performance milestones. The device also supports voice queries through Meta AI, enabling hands-free access to training data.
Hardware features on the Vanguard model include a 12MP camera with a 124-degree field of view, support for slow motion and hyperlapse capture, and open-ear audio designed to remain audible in high-noise environments. Battery life extends up to nine hours of use, with quick charging delivering 50% charge in 20 minutes.
Both models incorporate Oakley’s PRIZM lens technology, with selected variants supporting Transitions lenses that adapt to lighting conditions.
Ray-Ban Meta expands into prescription and daily wear
Alongside the Oakley launch, Meta is expanding its Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) range with new optical frames designed for prescription users.
The new Blayzer Optics (Gen 2) and Scriber Optics (Gen 2) introduce slimmer, lighter designs with adjustable components such as interchangeable nose pads and flexible temple tips. These models support a wider prescription range and are built for extended daily wear, with battery life rated between eight to ten hours.
Across the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) lineup, Meta continues to build out its AI and software capabilities. Features include real-time translation in multiple languages, message summarisation, food logging, and nutrition tracking, all accessible through voice commands.
The platform also supports hands-free communication across apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, alongside POV video calls and direct content sharing. Camera capabilities remain consistent with a 12MP sensor supporting 3K video, HDR, and stabilisation features.
Audio and accessibility features have also been expanded. A six-microphone system improves voice clarity, while integrations such as the Be My Eyes app enable assistance for visually impaired users through real-time visual interpretation.
Availability and rollout across Singapore
Both Oakley Meta and Ray-Ban Meta products are being rolled out through Oakley and Ray-Ban retail channels, including EssilorLuxottica locations and partner optical stores in Singapore.
Oakley Meta Vanguard is currently available in selected configurations from 20 April, with additional variants expected over time. The Oakley Meta HSTN lineup starts from S$659, while Vanguard models begin from S$819.
For Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), core models such as Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner are available from 20 April, with the new Blayzer and Scriber optical frames launching from 6 May. Pricing starts from S$629 depending on configuration.

A dedicated Ray-Ban Meta pop-up will also run from 6 to 17 May along Orchard Road, showcasing the full product range and offering custom engraving services.
Portfolio shift towards broader AI wearable use
The combined announcements extend Meta’s AI glasses strategy across two distinct segments. Oakley Meta introduces a performance-oriented category tied to sports and fitness, while Ray-Ban Meta continues to address lifestyle, communication, and accessibility use cases.
This split suggests a clearer segmentation of AI wearables, moving beyond general-purpose smart glasses into more specialised roles defined by context and user intent.
