Microsoft launches AI bug bounty scheme with rewards up to US$15,000

Explore Microsoft's new AI Bug Bounty programme, with rewards up to US$15,000 for enhancing AI-driven Bing, bolstering customer safety and service.

Microsoft has rolled out a new AI bug bounty programme, offering rewards to individuals who contribute towards enhancing the AI-powered Bing experience. The rewards on offer range from US$2,000 to US$15,000.

Enhancing safety through AI

The initial launch of AI-driven Bing is designed to bolster security against emerging vulnerabilities. By leveraging AI technology, Bing aims to provide innovative user experiences while heightening customer safety.

Individuals stand to earn bounty awards for contributing in the following areas:

  • AI-powered Bing experiences on bing.com in the browser (supporting all major vendors, including Bing Chat, Bing Chat for Enterprise, and Bing Image Creator)
  • AI-powered Bing integration in Microsoft Edge (Windows), inclusive of Bing Chat for Enterprise
  • AI-powered Bing integration in the Microsoft Start Application (iOS and Android)
  • AI-powered Bing integration in the Skype Mobile Application (iOS and Android)

This service helps keep Microsoft’s customers ahead of the curve by offering timely updates on evolving tools and security issues.

Rewarding research and development efforts

The new Microsoft AI bounty programme has been introduced as a result of significant investments and learnings over the previous months, which included an AI security research challenge and an update to Microsoft’s vulnerability severity rating for AI systems.

Even if your findings do not qualify for a bounty payout, you might still gain public recognition if your efforts lead to identifying and rectifying a vulnerability.

You can accrue points under the researcher recognition programme, redeemable for merchandise and a spot on Microsoft’s Most Valuable Researcher list. Microsoft collaborates closely with the security community through special programmes as part of its commitment to shielding customers from malicious attacks. A word of appreciation was also extended to all partners participating in this endeavour.
