The launch follows POCO’s recent expansion into the premium category with its F Series, positioning the M8 Series as a bridge between affordability and more advanced capabilities. The updated lineup focuses on balancing portability, audiovisual quality, battery life, and durability, while maintaining a design aimed at everyday use.
Both models support 5G connectivity and are positioned towards users who prioritise media consumption, gaming, and long daily usage. The M8 Series reflects POCO’s wider strategy of refreshing its product portfolio with clearer segmentation and stronger differentiation across price tiers.
POCO M8 Pro 5G targets all-round entertainment performance
The POCO M8 Pro 5G sits at the top of the M8 lineup and adopts an entertainment-first approach, with upgrades across battery capacity, charging speed, display quality, audio output, and camera performance. It is equipped with a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery designed for long-term durability, with the company stating that the battery retains more than 80 percent of its capacity after extended charge cycles under laboratory conditions. Fast charging is supported via 100W HyperCharge, enabling a full charge in 40 minutes, alongside wired reverse charging of up to 22.5W.
Visual performance is centred on a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes Flow AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, designed to remain legible under direct sunlight. High-frequency PWM dimming and DC dimming are included to reduce eye strain during extended viewing sessions. The display also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, positioning the device for high-quality video streaming and gaming.
Audio capabilities are delivered through dual 1115F speakers with support for Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio. The company claims a significant volume boost compared to standard output levels, aimed at improving audibility in outdoor environments. Performance is driven by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, with a substantial increase in benchmark performance over the previous generation. The device also introduces the POCO IceLoop Cooling System with liquid cooling, designed to sustain performance during prolonged gaming sessions.
On the software side, the POCO M8 Pro 5G runs on Xiaomi HyperOS and integrates features such as Google Gemini and Circle to Search with Google. Connectivity enhancements include the Xiaomi Surge T1S Tuner for improved signal stability and Xiaomi Offline Communication, which enables long-distance voice calls without cellular coverage in supported scenarios.
POCO M8 5G focuses on lightweight design and everyday use
Positioned as a more compact alternative, the POCO M8 5G emphasises portability and daily usability while retaining core entertainment features. It features a 6.77-inch Flow AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, supported by a wide colour gamut and TÜV Rheinland-certified eye-care technologies.
The device is designed with a slim 7.35mm profile and weighs 178g, making it the thinnest smartphone in the POCO M Series to date. Despite its lightweight build, the phone is engineered for durability, having passed comprehensive shock and drop-resistance testing and carrying an IP66 rating for dust and water resistance. Wet Touch Technology 2.0 is also included to maintain responsiveness in wet conditions.
Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, paired with a 5,520mAh battery and 45W fast charging. The device supports memory extension of up to 16GB of RAM and expandable storage of up to 1TB via microSD card. Camera capabilities include a 50MP main camera and a 20MP front camera, with support for 4K video recording at 30fps and a range of AI-powered imaging tools aimed at simplifying photo editing and everyday content creation.
