ST Engineering plans to establish a Transparency Centre in Singapore in the first quarter of 2027 to assess the cybersecurity and operational resilience of autonomous platforms before deployment. Providing independent assurance for systems including autonomous vehicles, drones and mobile robots, the facility will help organisations evaluate whether they are ready for their intended operational use.

Security assessments at the centre will be combined with targeted cybersecurity improvements. To support organisations introducing these systems into business-critical operations, ST Engineering intends to draw on its experience in protecting critical infrastructure and developing autonomous technologies.

Security assessments without access to source code

Assessments conducted by the Transparency Centre will align with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, examining vulnerabilities, security weaknesses and software supply chain risks in autonomous platforms and cyber-physical systems. Among its planned capabilities is advanced binary analysis, which enables software binaries and firmware to be examined directly without requiring access to proprietary source code. These assessments are intended to give organisations greater visibility into the technologies underpinning their platforms, supporting decisions about security improvements and readiness for operational use.

Goh Eng Choon, President, Cyber, ST Engineering, said: “As AI becomes embedded in critical systems, trust can no longer be assumed. It must be engineered, tested and assured. Our Transparency Centre will provide independent assurance and rigorous cybersecurity validation to help customers verify that their autonomous platforms and cyber-physical systems are secure, resilient and ready for their intended operational use.”

Cybersecurity hardening and lifecycle support

Planned services at the centre will address identified weaknesses through targeted rectification and cybersecurity upgrades. These measures include implementing stronger hardware roots of trust for systems handling sensitive data and enhancing encryption across storage and communications.

The centre will draw on ST Engineering’s experience in securing critical information infrastructure and protecting business-critical data across information technology, operational technology (OT) and cloud environments, while bringing together capabilities in robotics, autonomous technologies and mission-critical systems for smart cities. ST Engineering intends these services to support organisations throughout the lifecycle of their autonomous systems, covering assessment, strengthening and management.

At GovWare 2026, taking place from 13 to 15 October, ST Engineering is showcasing the assurance services planned for the Transparency Centre. Its presentation also includes AI-enabled cybersecurity services and quantum security innovations.
