StarHub will acquire MyRepublic’s mobile business in Singapore, bringing its broadband and mobile operations under common ownership once the transaction is completed. MyRepublic Mobile will retain its separate consumer brand and existing service offerings.

According to the companies, customers will continue using their current plans and services without disruption. While completion of the acquisition remains subject to both parties fulfilling the applicable conditions precedent, StarHub intends to use the increased scale to support network investment and service improvements.

MyRepublic Mobile customers to retain existing plans

MyRepublic Mobile customers are already being progressively migrated onto StarHub’s network, providing a foundation for the transition once the acquisition is completed. The companies have committed to maintaining service continuity throughout the process, with Vaughan Baker, Group Chief Executive Officer of MyRepublic, reaffirming that customers would experience no disruption to their existing services. Baker identified continuity and service quality as priorities, with subscribers continuing to benefit from StarHub’s mobile network as the transition progresses.

StarHub said the acquisition would give MyRepublic Mobile customers access to its nationwide 5G+ network, where the company is continuing to invest in faster speeds, stronger indoor coverage and improvements to the overall mobile experience.

Acquisition builds on earlier broadband investment

The proposed purchase follows StarHub’s investment in MyRepublic Broadband in 2021. According to StarHub, acquiring the mobile business will complete its move towards full ownership of MyRepublic across both broadband and mobile services. Nikhil Eapen, Chief Executive Officer of StarHub, described the acquisition as the final stage of a multi-year process intended to strengthen the group’s network operations and investment capacity.

“Our acquisition of MyRepublic Mobile completes a multi-year journey that began with our investment in MyRepublic Broadband in 2021, culminating in full ownership of MyRepublic across both broadband and mobile. With ongoing consolidation, we are bringing greater scale to invest more effectively in the networks, resilience and innovation that Singapore will increasingly depend on. This transaction strengthens those foundations while continuing to give consumers meaningful choice in how they connect.”

StarHub expects the combined scale to support sustained investment in Singapore’s connectivity infrastructure, including network resilience, service development and customer experience.

Multi-brand strategy supports network investment

The acquisition forms part of StarHub’s strategy to serve different customer segments through separate brands supported by shared network infrastructure. Under this approach, MyRepublic Mobile will continue operating under its existing identity and service offerings, drawing on StarHub’s mobile network capabilities. Matt Williams, Chief Executive Officer-designate of StarHub, explained how the acquisition fits the company’s plans to serve different mobile customers while increasing the scale of its network operations.

“MyRepublic Mobile is a strong fit with our multi-brand, multi-segment strategy. Different customers want different things from their mobile experience, and our approach allows us to offer distinct brands and propositions while giving more customers access to the strength of StarHub’s network. With our 5G+ network, we are continuing to invest in faster speeds, stronger indoor coverage and a better overall mobile experience, while building the scale needed to serve customers more effectively.”
