UGREEN Finder Slim Pro review: Slim wallet design but inconsistent remote tracking

Most item trackers are built for keys, bags or luggage, where a small disc or plastic fob causes little inconvenience. Wallets present a different problem all together. Even relatively compact trackers tend to create a noticeable bulge, stretch card slots or make a slim wallet uncomfortable for daily use.

The UGREEN Finder Slim Pro tackles this problem with a credit-card-shaped design made to slide neatly alongside bank cards and identification documents. Designed for wallets, passport sleeves and narrow compartments, it avoids the awkward bulk of round alternatives. This thin shape also supports a “set-and-forget” approach, allowing the tracker to remain inside an everyday item instead of having to be attached before each trip.

However, a slim body is only part of what makes a tracker useful. It must also offer reliable performance, with quick setup, dependable nearby alerts and accurate tracking once an item moves beyond Bluetooth range. Support for both Apple and Android tracking networks gives the device wider appeal, but its usefulness depends on how consistently these features work.

Thin enough for everyday wallet use

Measuring just 1.7 millimetres thick, the size is the Finder Slim Pro’s main advantage. It sits far flatter than conventional puck-shaped trackers, preserving the natural profile of a standard wallet. This thin design is equally suited for passport sleeves, document pouches and other tight spaces where a thicker tag would be challenging to carry.

Finished in matte black, the body includes a physical button, an indicator light, a built-in speaker and a hole for attachment. While this hole allows the device to be attached to a bag or suitcase, its flat dimensions remain better suited to sliding inside a pocket than hanging from a zip or keyring.

UGREEN rates the tracker at IP68 for dust and water resistance, providing some protection against rain and spills. However, an IP rating does not show how the tracker will cope with daily wear and tear, including years of pressure and friction inside a wallet.

The sealed design also prevents access to the battery. Because the internal battery cannot be recharged or replaced, the entire tracker must be discarded once it is depleted.

Setup is simple across Apple and Google

Setup is simple across both major ecosystems. Apple users add the tracker through the Items section of the Find My app, while Android users connect it through Google Find Hub. Pressing the physical button starts pairing mode, with three audible beeps showing that the device is ready to connect.

Built-in support for Apple and Google services removes the need for a separate UGREEN application or recurring subscription fees. The tracker requires iOS or iPadOS 14.5 and later for Apple devices, or Android 9 and above for Android phones and tablets.

Support for both platforms gives buyers more flexibility than trackers tied to one ecosystem, but it does not provide simultaneous tracking across both networks. The tracker can be linked to only one network at a time. Switching platforms requires users to remove it from the original account before setting it up again on the new one.

Nearby alerts are more convincing than remote recovery

The Finder Slim Pro performs best at nearby tracking and preventing items from being left behind. Left-behind alerts notify the owner when the smartphone moves out of range, giving them an early warning to retrieve a wallet, passport sleeve or bag before it is moved elsewhere.

When an item is misplaced nearby, the built-in speaker, rated at 80 decibels, can be triggered through Apple Find My or Google Find Hub. The alarm makes it easier to find a wallet hidden under furniture or buried inside a larger bag. Performance drops once an item moves beyond direct Bluetooth range. During testing, the tracker occasionally struggled to reconnect or refresh its position after losing its direct connection with the smartphone.

Apple and Google use nearby phones and other participating devices to report a tracker’s location. However, the Finder Slim Pro provided inconsistent network-based location updates and appeared more dependent on a direct phone connection than expected.

In informal comparison tests, the Apple AirTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag provided more reliable location updates. Local network coverage, nearby obstacles and the number of participating devices can affect performance, but the repeated detection failures of the Finder Slim Pro remain a concern.

These limitations show where the device works best. A wallet usually stays close to its owner, so left-behind alerts and audible alarms remain useful. Checked luggage and important travel documents may spend long periods outside Bluetooth range, where they depend on location updates from nearby devices.

Therefore, the Finder Slim Pro’s inconsistent remote performance makes it difficult to recommend as a main tracker for valuable belongings or long-distance travel.

How the three trackers compare

Five-year battery life reduces maintenance but limits longevity

UGREEN says the built-in 540mAh polymer lithium-ion battery can power the tracker for up to five years. Removing the need for regular charging or coin-cell replacements makes it easy to place the card inside a wallet and leave it there.

This low-maintenance design comes with a fixed lifespan. Battery life will depend on alarm use, connection activity and surrounding temperatures, so the five-year figure represents a best-case estimate rather than a guaranteed lifespan.

Once the battery wears out, the sealed construction turns the entire unit into electronic waste. This limited product lifespan is also difficult to reconcile with the one-year warranty, which covers only part of the claimed battery life. Owners have little protection if the battery or wireless components fail after the first year.

The UGREEN Finder Slim Pro solves a genuine design problem by fitting comfortably inside wallets and passport holders without the bulk of traditional round trackers. Setup is easy, while support for both Apple Find My and Google Find Hub gives buyers flexibility across phone platforms.

Left-behind tracking is its main strength, supported by reliable separation alerts and clear alarm sounds for nearby items. Remote tracking is considerably weaker. Detection failures, slow reconnection and poor location accuracy reduce confidence once the tracker moves beyond direct Bluetooth range. This makes it unsuitable for checked luggage or valuable items that require dependable remote tracking.

The sealed body removes the need for regular battery maintenance, but the entire product must be discarded once the battery wears out. The Finder Slim Pro is worth buying only for certain uses. It suits people who mainly want a thin wallet tracker and nearby loss alerts, but those who need reliable location updates over longer distances should consider another option.
