The company states that the new devices combine a larger battery capacity, updated software, and reinforced hardware design. The Y11 5G and Y21 5G are priced from S$199, while the entry-level Y05 begins at S$139.
Battery capacity becomes a key feature in entry-level smartphones
One of the central upgrades across the new Y Series lineup is the inclusion of a 6500mAh BlueVolt battery. The capacity marks an increase from the 5500mAh battery used in the previous generation, reflecting the growing demand for longer battery endurance in entry-level devices.
The company says the larger battery is paired with improved power efficiency and battery management to support everyday tasks such as streaming video, browsing social media and listening to music. The devices also feature what vivo describes as 5-Year Battery Health, intended to help maintain stable battery performance over longer periods of use.
For users who require faster charging speeds, the Y21 5G includes support for 44W FlashCharge. The feature is designed to shorten charging times and reduce interruptions for users who rely on their phones throughout the day.
Durability positioned as a differentiator for daily use
Alongside battery upgrades, vivo is emphasising device durability across the Y Series lineup. The new smartphones include IP-rated protection against dust and water exposure, with ratings listed as IP64 or IP65 depending on the model.
The devices are also certified with SGS Five-Star Drop Resistance and Military-Grade Durability Certification. These certifications are intended to signal that the phones can better withstand accidental drops and general wear from daily use.
The reinforced structural design is positioned as part of a broader effort to improve reliability for users who frequently carry their devices during commuting, travel, or outdoor activities.
Display and software upgrades focus on everyday usability
The Y Series devices feature a 6.745-inch Eyecare Display with brightness levels of up to 1200 nits. The screen is designed to remain visible in outdoor conditions while supporting common activities such as watching videos, browsing social media and playing games.
All three smartphones run OriginOS 6, the latest version of vivo’s mobile operating system. According to the company, the software includes improvements in system optimisation, resource management and interface design.
These changes are intended to enable faster app launches and smoother multitasking. vivo states that the software optimisation supports what it calls a 36-month smooth experience, which aims to maintain stable performance over time.
5G connectivity expands across the Y Series lineup
The Y11 5G and Y21 5G introduce 5G connectivity to the latest Y Series devices. The faster network capability is intended to support higher download speeds, smoother video streaming and improved online gaming performance.
The Y21 5G also includes a 50MP main camera designed to capture higher-detail photos for everyday photography.
The new smartphones are now available in Singapore through vivo’s Experience and Service Store at 313@somerset as well as online platforms including Shopee, Lazada and TikTok. The devices are also sold through authorised retailers such as Challenger, Best Denki, Courts, Harvey Norman, Gain City, NTUC FairPrice and Popular.
