Xiaomi launches Mix Flip, entering the foldable phone market

Xiaomi launches Mix Flip, a foldable flip phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, impressive battery life, advanced cooling, and Leica cameras.

Xiaomi has entered the foldable flip phone market with the introduction of the Mix Flip, bringing a new contender to the ever-evolving smartphone landscape.

Cutting-edge performance and cooling technology

The Xiaomi Mix Flip is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform and has RAM configurations of 12GB and 16 GB. You can choose from three internal storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. To ensure the phone runs smoothly, Xiaomi has incorporated an advanced 3D cooling system with a unique “staircase” design that rapidly dissipates heat from the mobile platform.

The Mix Flip also uses Xiaomi’s proprietary SU7 “aerogel” thermal insulation near the inner display to block heat transfer, ensuring a comfortable user experience. Additionally, double-layer graphite at the hinge distributes heat evenly, preventing any risk of heat accumulation.

Impressive battery life and outer display features

One of the standout features of the Mix Flip is its 4,780mAh battery, which boasts self-healing properties that allow it to maintain at least 80% capacity even after 1,600 cycles. This, combined with the Surge battery management system that oversees the charging and discharging process, gives the Mix Flip a battery life performance comparable to that of non-foldable phones.

The Mix Flip features a 4-inch 1.5K 120Hz front display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Thanks to HyperOS, the outer display is optimised to meet most daily needs. You can type comfortably on the full-display keyboard and access over 200 popular apps, ranging from communications and entertainment to health and shopping. Widgets provide information on the time, weather, step count, music control, recently used apps, and more.

The Mix Flip has two cameras at the top corner of the external display: a 50MP f/1.7 primary sensor and a 50MP f/2.0 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, developed in collaboration with Leica. When unfolded, the Mix Flip reveals a 6.86-inch 120Hz OLED main screen with a 32MP selfie camera, ensuring top-quality photos and videos.

Competitive landscape and pricing

Xiaomi’s Mix Flip enters a competitive market alongside phones like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip6, the Honor Magic V Flip, and Oppo’s upcoming N4 Flip. With its impressive specifications and reasonable pricing, the Mix Flip presents a strong option for those considering a foldable flip phone.

It is available in three configurations: S$1,110 for the 12GB/256GB variant, S$1,202 for the 12GB/512GB model, and S$1,350 for the 16GB/1 TB variant.
