Acer unveils portable ePaper monitor designed to reduce screen strain

Acer has unveiled a new portable ePaper monitor aimed at people who spend long periods reading, writing or working in front of a display. Acer introduced the EP130K during its press conference at IFA 2026 in Berlin, where the company also announced a range of other devices, including tablets, routers and a projector.

Unlike conventional computer monitors that use LCD or OLED panels with backlighting, the EP130K uses an ePaper display. Acer says the design is intended to provide a more comfortable viewing experience, particularly for users who regularly work with text and other static content.

The EP130K takes a different approach to displaying content by eliminating the backlight found in most traditional monitors.
