Al-Futtaim is deploying Juspay’s payment technology across 50 brands in 12 markets as it centralises how digital payments are managed across the group. Scheduled to begin in September 2026, the rollout will see the first Al-Futtaim brand go live during the month.
Under this arrangement, Juspay will serve as the group’s payment orchestration partner, connecting different payment services through a common platform. The unified system will support fraud management, adaptive 3D Secure authentication, local payment methods, network tokenisation, analytics and payment reconciliation. Al-Futtaim will also integrate Breeze, which is Juspay’s checkout technology designed for digital commerce.
Central control with local configurations
To accommodate diverse requirements across Al-Futtaim’s brands and markets, Juspay will deploy a multi-level architecture where central controls sit alongside country-level configurations and settings for individual brands. This structure allows each brand to retain its own checkout identity and local payment experience, while giving Al-Futtaim’s central team visibility and control across its payment operations. The platform is also designed to support multiple payment service providers within the same system.
Nakul Kothari, Head of APAC & Middle East at Juspay, described the requirements behind the deployment. “Al-Futtaim is the kind of enterprise that requires payment infrastructure to support multiple brands, markets and payment service providers through one unified system and a consistent checkout experience for customers. That is precisely what Juspay’s orchestration layer is built for. We are proud to be their partner as they advance digital commerce across the region,” he said.
Al-Futtaim expects the deployment to provide a more consistent checkout experience across its businesses while supporting local and preferred payment methods. Fraud management and adaptive 3D Secure workflows are also intended to strengthen payment security.
Omar Haddad, CEO of Al-Futtaim Finance, connected the payment changes with the group’s wider customer experience and growth plans. “At Al-Futtaim Finance, we see payments as an important part of the overall customer experience. Our partnership with Juspay is about creating a simpler, more seamless and secure way for customers to transact across Al-Futtaim’s brands and markets, while building the infrastructure needed to support our continued growth and digital ambitions. As customer expectations continue to evolve, partnerships like this allow us to bring greater choice, convenience and innovation into the everyday payment experience.”
Juspay claims its payment stack processes more than 350 million transactions a day, with annualised Total Payment Volume exceeding US$1 trillion and uptime of 99.999%. The company operates across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, the UK and North America.
AI agents form part of the longer-term plan
Al-Futtaim and Juspay also plan to use the payment infrastructure for agentic commerce. In this environment, AI agents could initiate and complete payments on behalf of customers.
Paul Carey, EVP Cards, Payments & Fintech at Al-Futtaim, linked the common payment system across 50 brands and 12 markets with that planned use of AI. “The launch of our payment orchestration platform marks a major milestone in Al-Futtaim’s digital transformation journey. By unifying payment operations across 50 brands and 12 markets, we are creating a scalable and resilient foundation that supports growth, innovation and exceptional customer experiences. Beyond today’s benefits, payment orchestration is a key enabler of the emerging era of agentic commerce, where intelligent AI-driven interactions will increasingly shape how customers discover, purchase and pay.”
The September rollout focuses first on bringing payment operations across Al-Futtaim’s businesses onto the shared infrastructure. Looking ahead, the companies intend for the same system to support AI agents completing payments as those capabilities are developed.
