Garmin introduces Approach R50, a portable golf launch monitor with built-in simulator

Garmin launches the Approach R50, a portable golf simulator and launch monitor with 43,000 courses and advanced shot analytics.

Garmin Singapore has unveiled its all-new Approach R50, a premium golf launch monitor and simulator designed to bring the golf course to you. Whether at home or on the driving range, the Approach R50 allows golfers to play a round of virtual golf year-round with precision analytics and cutting-edge technology.

The device features a built-in 10-inch colour touchscreen display and comes preloaded with over 43,000 golf courses from around the world. It also includes an improved version of Home Tee Hero, Garmin’s virtual golf simulator. Using advanced technology with a three-camera system, the Approach R50 captures more than 15 ball and club metrics, including spin rate, spin axis, ball speed, and launch angle. It even provides high-speed impact videos to help golfers analyse their swings in detail.

Mr Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager at Garmin Asia, said: “Leveraging our most advanced technology with an elaborate three-camera system, our Approach R50 can provide golfers of all levels with the cutting-edge metrics and analytics they need to help improve their game. Whether you want to see specific shot metrics, see how and where the ball comes off your club, or just want to play a round on a rainy day, we’ve got your game.”

Turn bad weather into perfect practice sessions

Weather no longer has to ruin your golf plans. With the Approach R50 and an indoor setup, you can play a full virtual round – from drive to putt – on over 43,000 courses worldwide. Through the enhanced Home Tee Hero simulator, up to four players can play together and even participate in weekly tournaments, with scores displayed on a global leaderboard.

The device can easily connect to a projector or monitor via HDMI, transforming your garage or basement into an immersive virtual golf experience. Golfers can mirror the display of the Approach R50 onto a larger screen for better visibility and customisation. Whether you want a full simulator setup or prefer the portable device’s standalone capability, the Approach R50 offers flexibility for any golfer’s needs.

Improve your game with advanced analytics

For golfers looking to sharpen their skills, the Approach R50 features a training mode that records sessions and saves stats for each club in your bag. This allows you to track improvements over time and identify areas for growth. High-speed impact videos provide instant visual feedback, helping golfers at any level refine their swings and improve their consistency.

The launch monitor offers precise data for all 15 advanced measurements, including ball speed, launch angle, and face-to-path metrics. By using high-speed cameras to capture every movement, the Approach R50 delivers detailed insights into each shot, including spin rate and axis. Whether you’re indoors or at the driving range, this device ensures your practice is effective and data-driven.

Play the world’s best courses at home

Using the Home Tee Hero simulator, golfers can tee off at their favourite courses from across the globe. With upgraded course maps, players experience a more detailed and realistic virtual round. Whether you’re practising for an upcoming trip, exploring bucket-list courses, or playing familiar local links, the Approach R50 makes it all possible without the cost of travel and green fees.

The Approach R50 also supports popular third-party simulators, including GSPro, E6 Connect, and Awesome Golf. With built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, golfers can access these simulators anywhere a connection is available.

Portable, versatile, and ready to play

Designed for convenience, the Approach R50 is easy to set up and portable enough to use just about anywhere with adequate space. It offers up to four hours of battery life and comes with a carrying case for easy transport, making it ideal for home use, the driving range, or even when travelling.

The Garmin Approach R50 is priced at S$7,399 and is available now on Shopee, Lazada, Garmin Online Store, Takashimaya, and selected retailers.
