Google’s NotebookLM apps for Android and iOS set to launch on May 20

Google's AI-powered NotebookLM will be available on mobile on May 20, bringing smart notes, summaries, and podcasts to Android and iOS devices.

You’ll soon be able to take your smart research assistant anywhere, as Google’s NotebookLM is coming to Android and iOS devices on May 20. The apps are now available for preorder on the App Store and pre-registration on Google Play.

Since launching in 2023, NotebookLM has only been available on desktop. Now, Google is bringing the power of this AI-based note-taking and research tool to your mobile device. Whether you’re a student trying to make sense of a lecture, a professional sorting through reports, or a researcher diving into detailed studies, this app is designed to help you easily understand complex topics.

What NotebookLM can do for you

NotebookLM uses artificial intelligence to help you understand detailed information. It offers features like smart summaries and the ability to ask questions about your uploaded documents. You can also use it to create AI-generated Audio Overviews podcasts, which let you listen to key insights rather than read through long texts.

The upcoming mobile apps will give you even more flexibility. You can create new notebooks directly on your phone or tablet, browse through your existing notebooks, and upload new documents from your device. You’ll also be able to listen to your Audio Overviews wherever you are—whether you’re commuting, out for a walk, or simply away from your desk.

Available on phones and tablets

The apps aren’t just for phones. If you prefer a bigger screen, you’ll be glad to know that NotebookLM will also work on iPads and Android tablets. This means you can enjoy a better multitasking experience while using the app.

You can preorder NotebookLM on the App Store for your iPhone or preregister on Google Play for your Android device. Once it is officially released on May 20, the app will download automatically to your device if you’ve signed up in advance.

Launch timed with Google I/O

The launch date is no coincidence—May 20 is the first day of Google I/O, the company’s annual developer conference. Google will likely highlight NotebookLM during the event and provide more details about how it works and what new features are in development.

Whether you’re new to NotebookLM or have been using it on a desktop, this mobile release will make it easier to keep your notes and research within reach at all times.
