Jobstreet by SEEK launches verified education credentials to boost hiring confidence in Singapore

Jobstreet by SEEK adds verified education credentials to SEEK Pass, giving Singapore employers greater hiring confidence and efficiency.

Jobstreet by SEEK has introduced a verified education credentials feature on its SEEK Pass platform, allowing jobseekers in Singapore to pre-verify their qualifications. The update aims to enhance transparency and streamline the recruitment process at a time when employers are prioritising both hiring speed and candidate quality.

The new function builds on SEEK Pass’ existing verification tools for employment history and professional documents, creating a single platform where jobseekers can display all verified credentials. Since December 2024, SEEK Pass has enabled workplace verification, and in February 2025, a collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) made it possible to verify digital identity and career history through the Careers & Skills Passport. Together, these developments allow employers to assess candidates with greater confidence.

Education credentials remain an important hiring factor

Despite Singapore’s push towards a skills-first economy, formal qualifications continue to hold significant weight in recruitment. According to the latest SkillsFuture Jobs-Skills Insights Report, degree holders remain far more likely to secure higher-skilled positions, with success rates rising from 61% a decade ago to 74% today.

A Jobstreet survey conducted in October 2024 found that three in four employers (75%) believe access to pre-verified education credentials helps streamline recruitment. Platform data also shows that more than half (52%) of job listings between July 2024 and June 2025 included tertiary education requirements. The sectors with the highest emphasis on such qualifications were education and training (73%), accounting (73%), community services and development (72%), science and technology (71%), and engineering (69%).

Verified jobseekers see higher chances of being shortlisted

Data from Jobstreet between May and August 2025 revealed that applicants with verified credentials are 40% more likely to be shortlisted than those without verification. Despite this advantage, about 31% of active jobseekers have yet to update their educational information since July 2024, potentially missing an opportunity to differentiate themselves in Singapore’s competitive job market.

With the number of applications continuing to grow, employers are seeking more reliable and efficient ways to identify talent. The SEEK Pass update consolidates verified qualifications and skills into one digital profile, aligning with Singapore’s broader move towards a transparent, skills-first recruitment system.

Advancing a transparent and data-driven job market

The verified education feature complements Jobstreet’s ongoing Job Relevancy Campaign, which promotes smarter, data-driven job matching and encourages greater trust between employers and jobseekers.

“Employers in Singapore are facing increasing pressure to hire faster, smarter, and with certainty,” said Xavier Russo, General Manager of SEEK Pass, Jobstreet by SEEK. “By pre-verifying education credentials, we remove one of the biggest friction points in recruitment — doubt. SEEK Pass gives employers assurance, while helping jobseekers stand out based on verified merit and proven capability.”
