Meta has introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered fashion app that lets users organise their wardrobes, receive outfit recommendations, and virtually try on different clothing combinations. Called Style Sketch, the app is currently available in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand for Android and iOS devices.
The launch adds another product to Meta’s growing collection of experimental AI applications as the company continues to explore ways to bring artificial intelligence into everyday activities. Style Sketch focuses on personal styling, using images of users’ existing clothes to suggest outfits based on their preferences, body type, skin tone and other factors.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra first brought the app to public attention, reporting its availability on X. Unlike traditional fashion applications that focus mainly on browsing and purchasing products, Meta’s latest offering helps users make better use of clothes they already own.

Style Sketch turns personal wardrobes into a virtual closet
Style Sketch lets users create a digital wardrobe using photos of their clothing. One option is to connect an existing Facebook or Instagram account, enabling the application to collect clothing images from photographs previously shared on those platforms. This provides a convenient way to build a virtual collection without photographing every item individually.
Users who prefer not to connect their social media accounts can create their wardrobes manually. The app supports uploading existing photos from a device’s camera roll or taking new pictures directly in the app. This gives users greater control over which clothing items appear in their digital collection and what information they share with Meta.
Once the wardrobe has been created, Style Sketch can analyse the available clothing items and suggest different outfit combinations. Users can select a particular clothing item and ask the application to build an outfit around it. For example, someone looking for ways to wear a specific shirt can receive suggestions for matching trousers, skirts, shoes or other suitable items already included in their collection.
The application also considers external conditions when generating recommendations. Users can provide information about the day’s weather, allowing the AI system to suggest clothing combinations appropriate for the conditions. This feature could help people decide what to wear without browsing their entire wardrobe.
Style Sketch also supports travel outfit planning. Users can tell the application about an upcoming trip and request clothing suggestions for the journey. Rather than selecting individual outfits each day, they can use the recommendations to plan combinations for different occasions and conditions during their stay.
AI-powered virtual try-on offers personalised outfit suggestions
One of Style Sketch’s main features is its virtual try-on capability. After selecting an outfit combination, users can view how the clothing might look on a virtual model designed to match their body type and skin tone. This allows them to explore different styles and combinations before deciding what to wear.
The personalised model is intended to make the virtual styling experience more relevant to individual users. Instead of displaying clothing on a generic figure, the application attempts to provide a representation that better reflects the user’s physical characteristics. This could make it easier to compare different outfit ideas and explore combinations that might suit their appearance.
The feature also expands the purpose of a digital wardrobe beyond simply storing photographs of clothing. By combining image recognition, AI-powered recommendations and virtual visualisation, Style Sketch turns a collection of clothing images into an interactive styling tool.
However, the application is not the first technology product to introduce virtual clothing experiences. Several major technology companies have already developed AI-powered fashion tools with features designed to help consumers visualise clothing, organise their belongings, and make styling decisions.
Google, for example, introduced virtual clothing try-on capabilities through its AI-powered Search experience in 2025. The technology lets users see how selected garments might look on different body types using images of themselves or other models.
Google also added a Wardrobe feature to its Photos application earlier in 2026. The feature can scan a user’s photo library and create a digital catalogue of clothing items, making it easier to find and organise pieces that have appeared in previous photographs.
OpenAI has also introduced a clothing visualisation feature in ChatGPT. It lets users upload photos of themselves alongside images of clothing they want to try, generating a visual representation of how the selected items might look when worn.
Meta expands its AI app strategy
Style Sketch is part of Meta’s broader effort to introduce more standalone AI-powered applications. The company has increasingly explored smaller, specialised apps that focus on particular activities rather than relying entirely on its established platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
A few weeks before the Style Sketch launch, Meta introduced Waddle World in the Philippines. The application is a Tamagotchi-inspired virtual pet experience that the company described as a “daily journal disguised as a pet”. Its limited regional release follows a similar approach to Style Sketch, with both applications initially reaching selected markets rather than launching worldwide.
Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg previously explained that the company intends to release more applications as artificial intelligence makes software development easier and faster. The growing availability of AI development tools allows companies to experiment with new ideas and introduce products that target specific interests and everyday activities.
These applications could also serve a wider purpose within Meta’s artificial intelligence strategy. By drawing users into different AI-powered experiences, the company has more opportunities to increase engagement with its systems and better understand how people interact with AI products.
Style Sketch demonstrates how Meta is exploring practical applications for artificial intelligence beyond chatbots and content creation. Fashion and personal styling offer another area where image recognition and generative AI can be combined to provide personalised recommendations.
The application’s initial availability remains limited to Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, with support for both Android and iOS devices. Meta has not provided details about a wider international release in the supplied announcement.
As competition in AI-powered consumer applications continues to grow, Style Sketch places Meta among the companies experimenting with virtual wardrobes and digital styling tools. Its longer-term appeal will depend on how accurately it can interpret clothing, generate useful combinations and provide virtual try-on results that users find relevant to their everyday needs.
Meta’s latest release also highlights a growing shift towards AI applications designed to solve specific everyday problems, with personal fashion becoming another area where the technology is being tested.
