myFirst introduces Insta Lux instant camera with dye-sublimation printing
myFirst launches Insta Lux instant camera with dye-sublimation printing for more durable photo prints and smartphone integration.
myFirst has launched the myFirst Camera Insta Lux, its latest instant camera, positioned as its most advanced model to date. First introduced at CES 2026, the device combines instant photography with dye-sublimation printing, aiming to address common limitations in print quality and durability associated with traditional instant cameras.
Table Of Content
The Insta Lux is designed for families and younger users, focusing on ease of use and the ability to produce physical photo prints immediately after capture, while maintaining higher output quality than conventional instant film systems.
Dye-sublimation printing replaces traditional instant film
The core change in the Insta Lux lies in its use of dye-sublimation printing instead of light-sensitive instant film. This process applies colour to photo paper in multiple layers using heat, followed by a protective coating. The result is prints that are waterproof, fingerprint-resistant, and designed to retain colour over extended periods.
This approach shifts the device from novelty instant prints towards more durable outputs suitable for long-term use, including scrapbooking or storage in wallets and phone cases. It also removes reliance on chemical film exposure, which typically affects consistency and longevity.
Camera and usability features target casual photography
The Insta Lux includes a 5MP camera with Smart Exposure, allowing it to automatically adjust for different lighting conditions without manual input. The system is intended to simplify use across both bright and low-light environments, aligning with its target audience of children and families.
A 2.8-inch IPS colour display enables users to preview images before printing, reducing wasted prints. The camera also features dual lenses, including a dedicated selfie lens, and an ergonomic shutter button with an integrated LED flash for easier handling.
Creative frames and filters are built in, allowing users to customise images directly on the device before printing.
Smartphone integration expands printing beyond camera capture
The camera supports Wi-Fi connectivity and pairs with the myFirst Circle app, allowing users to print photos directly from a smartphone gallery. This extends its use beyond live capture, enabling families to convert existing digital images into physical prints.
This integration adds flexibility to the device’s role, positioning it as both a camera and a standalone printing tool for stored photos.
Pricing and availability
The myFirst Camera Insta Lux is priced at S$239 and is available in Cotton Candy Mix and Grey. It is sold through the myFirst digital store, the myFirst Suntec Experience Store, and POPULAR Bookstores in Singapore.
Refill cartridges are priced at S$19.90 for two packs, delivering up to 20 prints, which works out to approximately S$1 per print. The cartridge system is designed for quick replacement to support continuous use.
