Nubia Z70S Ultra launches with an invisible front camera and a stunning display

Nubia Z70S Ultra debuts with a hidden front camera and flagship specs for uninterrupted viewing and top-tier photo performance.

Nubia, once a sub-brand of ZTE and now operating independently, has just unveiled its latest budget flagship — the Nubia Z70S Ultra. This might be the one for you if you’re after a phone that offers powerful performance and a screen with no notches or punch holes. With a front camera hidden beneath the screen, the Z70S Ultra is designed to give you an uninterrupted viewing experience.

Let’s look at what this new release brings and why it stands out from other flagship smartphones.

A seamless display with the hidden front camera

The standout feature of the Nubia Z70S Ultra is its screen. It has a large 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 2,688 x 1,216 resolution and a super-smooth 144Hz refresh rate. But what makes it special is the 7th-generation under-display camera technology. The 16MP front camera is hidden beneath the screen and only becomes visible when needed. This means you can enjoy full-screen videos, games, and apps without any camera cutouts.

The screen is protected by Nubia’s 2nd-generation Longxi Durable Glass, offering durability alongside its sleek design. It also includes ultra-slim 1.25mm bezels to keep your viewing experience as wide and immersive as possible.

You’ll also find top-notch resistance to water and dust with IP68 and IP69 ratings, which means you can use it worry-free in the rain or around splashes.

Powerful cameras and photography tools

Around the back, the Nubia Z70S Ultra is equipped with what it calls its “5th-generation Neo Master native 35mm custom optical system.” In simpler terms, it’s a high-end camera setup designed for photography lovers.

The main 50MP camera uses an Omnivision OV50H sensor with optical image stabilisation and an f/1.7 lens. It’s joined by a 50MP ultrawide lens (OV50D sensor, f/2.0, with AutoFocus and macro focus from 2.5cm) and a 64MP telephoto lens with a 70mm focal length and f/2.48 aperture. These features are supported by flicker and laser sensors to improve accuracy and image quality.

You’ll also benefit from Nubia’s built-in AI imaging model, which enhances photos automatically. It includes AI modes for capturing motion, sunsets, and even the night sky, including the Milky Way. To help with precision, a physical shutter button with dual-stage control, like a real camera, gives you more control.

Under the hood, the Z70S Ultra runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage for fast and smooth performance. Whether you’re multitasking, gaming, or editing photos, the phone is built to handle it all.

The phone houses a large 6,600mAh battery that supports 80W fast wired charging, letting you power up quickly. It also features dual nano-SIM support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC for convenience. However, it does not support wireless charging or eSIM.

It runs on Nebula AIOS, Nubia’s version of Android 15, with extra smart features designed to work smoothly with its hardware.

Price and availability in Singapore

If you’re in Singapore, the Nubia Z70S Ultra is available for pre-order through the official international website. It comes in two versions:

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage: US$779 (S$1,014.15)
  • 16GB RAM + 512GB storage: US$869 (S$1,119.60)

Pre-orders are discounted by US$40, and you can save an extra US$20 if you select “global” as your shipping region.

The phone officially hits shelves on May 28, 2025.
