Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Tab S12 Series in Singapore, led by the 14.6-inch Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the 12.6-inch Galaxy Tab S12+. Powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor and running Android 17 with One UI 9, both tablets integrate Galaxy AI features alongside 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays and an included S Pen.

Local pricing begins at S$1,698 for the Wi-Fi edition of the Galaxy Tab S12+, with the 5G model priced at S$1,868. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra retails at S$1,998 for Wi-Fi connectivity and S$2,148 with 5G, with all four prices including GST. Both tablets are available in Grey and Silver finishes from 1 October through Samsung Experience Stores, selected consumer electronics and IT stores, as well as Samsung Official Stores on Lazada, Shopee, TikTok, iShopChangi and KrisShop. Availability expands on 7 October, when sales commence through the Samsung Online Store, the Samsung Shop App and local telecommunications operators.

Larger displays pair with a thinner design

Measuring 5.1 mm thick and weighing 692 g in its Wi-Fi configuration or 695 g with 5G, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is described by Samsung as its thinnest Galaxy Tab to date. The Galaxy Tab S12+ shares a similarly slender build at 5.3 mm, weighing 553 g for the Wi-Fi model and 555 g for the 5G version.

Both devices feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays operating at a 120Hz refresh rate and reaching peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits. High Brightness Mode delivers an outdoor rating of 1,000 nits, supported by Vision Booster to adjust screen luminance in real time according to surrounding lighting conditions. Screen resolutions differ slightly between the form factors, with the Ultra offering 2960 x 1848 pixels compared with 2800 x 1752 on the S12+.

The tablets are equipped with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage, accompanied by microSD expansion supporting cards of up to 2TB. Internally, Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra offers up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU power compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, though actual performance varies according to the user environment, operating conditions and installed software. Thermal management has also been upgraded, with Samsung stating that the 3D Vapor Chamber across both models dissipates heat faster and more efficiently than the flat vapor chambers in their respective predecessors, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S10+.

Durability is backed by an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance across both the Galaxy Tab S12 Series and the included S Pen. This water-resistance standard is based on laboratory testing involving submersion in up to 1.5 metres of freshwater for up to 30 minutes, and Samsung advises against use at the beach or near swimming pools.

Galaxy AI expands note-taking and research tools

On the software side, the enlarged displays bring multitasking, note-taking and AI assistance into a unified workspace. Multi Window allows the screen to be split into up to three sections so users can work across several apps at once. For documentation, Note Assist can summarise notes containing at least 200 characters, while the included S Pen supports handwritten input directly within notes. Samsung Browser also uses Galaxy AI to understand webpage content and context across multiple tabs, helping users condense information and revisit previously viewed sources without manually searching through browsing history. Certain Galaxy AI features require a Samsung Account, and feature availability can vary by country, region, One UI version, device model or carrier.

Creative workflows receive substantial focus through an included six-month Google AI Pro trial and the preloading of Adobe Photoshop inside the Galaxy Picks folder, an addition Samsung describes as the first availability of Photoshop on Android tablets. Photoshop for Tablet will be exclusive to the Galaxy Store for at least six months from 7 October, after which Adobe may make the app available through other app stores. Buyers of the Galaxy Tab S12 Series are eligible for four months of the Photoshop premium mobile subscription, which includes 100 monthly generative credits. The app incorporates Adobe Firefly features such as Generative Fill and Image to Video, while its AI Assistant is currently in beta.

Samsung also lists Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion, Clip Studio Paint, MyScript Notes, MyScript Math, Noteshelf 3 and ArcSite among the productivity and creative apps available with trials, discounts or other offers, with terms and availability varying by app and market. For physical input, the separately sold Pro Keyboard includes a Galaxy AI Key that can be assigned to selected apps; pressing the key alongside Alt lets users switch their active AI assistant between Bixby, Gemini or Perplexity, subject to network and software requirements. Samsung also offers a Book Cover Keyboard Slim as a separate accessory.

Battery life and local purchase options

Battery capacities differ between the two sizes, with the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra housing an 11,600 mAh battery and the Galaxy Tab S12+ equipped with a 10,600 mAh cell. Samsung rates video playback at up to 23 hours on the Ultra and up to 21 hours on the S12+. Both models support wired charging at up to 45W, delivering a claimed full recharge time of about 95 minutes when using a 45W adapter, which is sold separately.

Connectivity options also show a slight divergence: the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, whereas the Galaxy Tab S12+ supports Wi-Fi 6E. Both devices are available in 5G configurations and share support for Bluetooth 6.0, dual SIM via pSIM and eSIM, an on-display fingerprint sensor and four-channel spatial audio. On the software lifecycle front, Samsung says the series supports up to seven OS upgrades and security updates, with availability and timing varying by model and market.

Promotional launch incentives run from 1 October to 6 November, allowing customers at Samsung Experience Stores to receive up to 30% off selected Galaxy Tab accessories and 15% off Galaxy Watches and Buds. The same discounts apply through the Samsung Online Store and Samsung Shop App between 7 October and 6 November.

Beginning 7 October, buyers can also add one of two bundle options for S$12 alongside an eligible Galaxy Tab S12 Series purchase. The Culture Chaser Bundle includes a Book Cover, power adapter and one year of Samsung Care+ Lite, while the Power Mover Bundle pairs a Book Cover Keyboard Slim with one year of Samsung Care+ Lite. Both offers run until 6 November, with bundle contents and availability subject to the retail outlet or platform.
