Samsung launches US$799 Galaxy Book 6 as a more affordable Windows laptop

Samsung has expanded its Galaxy Book 6 range with a new entry-level model that offers many of the series’ features at a lower price. Starting at US$799, the laptop gives Samsung a more affordable option in its latest Windows notebook line. It could appeal to buyers looking for an alternative to Apple’s lower-cost MacBook Neo.

The new model arrives several months after Samsung introduced the first Galaxy Book 6 laptops at CES earlier this year. The company began selling the original three models in the US in March, with the standard Galaxy Book 6 starting at US$1,050. Samsung later broadened the range in June with a higher-end version powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite processor, priced from US$2,100.
Galaxy Book 6 targets a lower price point
The latest Galaxy Book 6 is positioned below the other models in the range, with a US$799 starting price that makes it considerably cheaper than the original entry point. Samsung has not positioned it as a stripped-back device, however, and the laptop retains several of the features found across the broader Galaxy Book 6 family.
Processor options vary by configuration and market, with Samsung offering Intel Core 3 and Core 5 chips. Buyers can also choose between 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of storage, while memory configurations include 8GB and 16GB of RAM. The selected combination determines the final price.
The device has a 14-inch display with a 1,920 x 1,200-pixel resolution and an anti-glare finish. Samsung claims the laptop can deliver up to 25 hours of battery life on a single charge. However, actual battery performance will likely depend on factors such as screen brightness, applications, and usage patterns. The laptop also supports 45W fast charging for users who need to recharge quickly.
Samsung adds AI and Galaxy connectivity
Samsung has included several AI-based features in the new Galaxy Book 6. One is AI Select, which lets users select content displayed on the screen. The feature is designed to make it easier to interact with or work with information found on the laptop’s display.
Another feature, Note Assist, is intended to help users manage notes. It can summarise notes and highlight important information, allowing users to return to key points without reviewing everything manually. These capabilities form part of Samsung’s broader push to integrate AI tools into its latest computers and mobile devices.
The Galaxy Book 6 also benefits from Samsung’s wider device ecosystem. Users with other Galaxy products can share and access files between compatible devices, while a Galaxy Tab can be used as a second display for the laptop. This integration could make the new model particularly useful for customers who already own Samsung smartphones or tablets.
Ports, colours and availability
Despite its lower price, the Galaxy Book 6 includes a selection of commonly used ports. The laptop has two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, an HDMI 1.4 connection, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The mix lets users connect newer USB-C accessories while still supporting older USB devices without necessarily needing a hub.
Samsung is offering the laptop in Grey and Violet Silver. Violet Silver is a new colour option for the Galaxy Book range, although both finishes are currently limited to select markets. Samsung has not indicated that every configuration or colour will be available in all regions.
The new model gives Samsung a broader range of prices across its Galaxy Book 6 family. While the more powerful versions target customers seeking higher performance, the US$799 model focuses on affordability while retaining features such as a high-resolution display, long claimed battery life, fast charging and Galaxy device integration. Its pricing also puts it in a position to compete more directly with lower-cost laptops, including Apple’s MacBook Neo.
For consumers considering a new Windows laptop, the Galaxy Book 6 could provide a relatively accessible entry into Samsung’s latest notebook ecosystem. Its appeal will ultimately depend on the processor, memory and storage configuration available in each market, as well as local pricing and availability.
