SHARP launches AQUOS sense9 smartphone, blending Japanese craftsmanship with advanced technology

SHARP’s AQUOS sense9 debuts in Singapore with advanced technology, military-grade durability, and an exclusive Coral colour for local users.

SHARP has introduced its latest smartphone, the AQUOS sense9, which is now available in Singapore in line with its launch in Japan. Featuring a sleek design and rugged build that meets US military standards, the sense9 promises an elegant mix of aesthetics, high-end performance, and reliability for everyday users.

In Singapore, the sense9 comes in four colour options: Black, White, Blue, and an exclusive Coral shade, available only in Singapore. Under the design guidance of Miyake Design, the device blends style with durability, making it a seamless part of daily life for work, play, or capturing moments on the go.

Durability and user-friendly design

The AQUOS sense9 offers users four colour options, allowing for a choice between bold bicolour combinations or minimalist monotones that highlight the camera panel or create a cohesive look. Weighing approximately 166 grams, it is compact, lightweight, and comfortable to hold.

Crafted to withstand a variety of environments, the sense9 is MIL-STD-810H-certified for waterproofing and shock resistance, with drop protection that meets MIL-STD-810G standards. This ensures it is ready for both daily use and outdoor activities.

The display uses SHARP’s proprietary Pro IGZO OLED technology, balancing energy efficiency with striking visuals. The screen dynamically adjusts its refresh rate between 1 and 120Hz, delivering smooth performance that can reach up to 240Hz when needed. With peak brightness reaching up to 2,000 nits and full white brightness at 1,500 nits, the screen remains easy to see even under bright sunlight. Stereo speakers with optimised lower speaker structure add to the audio experience, providing rich, immersive sound.

The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Mobile Platform, ensuring responsive and smooth performance. Its 5,000mAh battery, paired with the efficient Pro IGZO OLED screen, enables up to two days of usage on a full charge, based on approximately 10 hours of daily activity.

Enhanced photography features

For photography enthusiasts, the AQUOS sense9 is equipped with dual 50.3MP rear cameras: a standard and a wide-angle lens. The primary lens, featuring optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a 1/1.55-inch sensor, captures sharp and bright images with reduced blur, even in low-light settings.

The wide-angle camera supports versatile photography, including macro shots as close as 2.5 cm and wide-angle photos up to 122°. With SHARP’s ProPix image processing technology, derived from the AQUOS R Pro series, photos are produced with lifelike textures and smooth gradations. Additionally, the 32MP front camera is optimised for selfies in low-light conditions, perfect for capturing scenes at night or against festive illuminated backgrounds.

Additional features for an enhanced user experience

The AQUOS sense9 also includes several features to improve the user experience. Its Spam Call Prevention feature alerts users of potentially suspicious calls, with options to automatically answer or record calls, adding an extra layer of security. The customisable home screen provides flexible layout options, such as a child-safe mode and a simplified interface for easy reading.

For media lovers, the sense9 offers powerful stereo sound through its box-structure speakers, ideal for streaming content and video calls. The device supports up to three OS version updates and five years of security updates, ensuring long-term reliability and safety.

To make the setup process smooth, the Quick Switch Adapter allows users to transfer essential data like contacts, photos, and videos from other devices easily. Additionally, silicone cases will be available in six colours worldwide, enabling users to coordinate their case with their chosen device colour and camera panel. The Coral shade, exclusive to Singapore, provides a unique and stylish option for local users.

With military-grade durability, powerful performance, and a Coral colour exclusive to Singapore, the AQUOS sense9 is designed to be a reliable and elegant choice for users in any setting.

The AQUOS sense9 will be available from 7 November 2024 on SHARP’s CocoroLife e-store, as well as selected outlets of Best Denki, Challenger, Courts, and other stores across Singapore.
