Singapore Polytechnic has taken on the role of founding training partner for AutomationSG’s Trusted Industrial AI-Ready Framework, which stands as Singapore’s inaugural industry-owned readiness framework for artificial intelligence in industrial environments. Known as TIA-Ready, the initiative outlines a phased approach enabling businesses to evaluate AI risks, assign clear accountability, establish governance controls, and thoroughly document system management. Singapore Polytechnic will actively back this rollout by delivering workforce training, leading pilot initiatives, and running organisational readiness schemes. This includes a new Industrial AI and Governance Literacy programme slated for an October 2026 launch.

The official unveiling took place on 29 July at the Automation SolutionGO! x Regional Industry Networking Conference 2026, a joint effort between the polytechnic and AutomationSG held at the SP Convention Centre. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development Alvin Tan witnessed the proceedings.
Companies can begin with a defined AI use case
Because industrial artificial intelligence systems directly interact with machinery, production lines, and connected operational infrastructure, they present operational hazards that differ significantly from typical corporate software. TIA-Ready directly addresses these unique challenges by allowing firms to start with a single bounded use case before expanding governance requirements across broader operations and business functions. Aligning local and international standards, the framework is benchmarked against ISO/IEC 42001, the global benchmark for AI management systems. It outlines clear criteria for identifying risks, delegating internal responsibilities, enforcing governance controls, and gathering necessary evidence, thereby offering enterprises a structured roadmap toward full certification as their deployments mature.
Potential applications span machine vision inspection, predictive maintenance, quality control, robotics optimisation, and AI-assisted engineering. Beyond basic functionality, the framework incorporates safeguards for AI tool governance and data leakage prevention, which are critical when increasingly autonomous systems link to automation equipment or operational technology.
“Introducing AI into industrial processes also introduces new risks, especially as AI becomes more autonomous and connected to automation and operational technology environments. TIA-Ready helps companies start with one bounded use case, build evidence, manage risk and progressively prepare for ISO/IEC 42001 when they are ready,” said Saw Biing Huei, CEO of AutomationSG.
A dedicated steering committee will oversee the framework’s evolution, while AutomationSG, Singapore Polytechnic, and partner organisations deliver hands-on support through training, pilot implementations, and readiness assessments. These early trial deployments permit organisations to record system performance, embed governance protocols, and establish a proven track record prior to pursuing formal certification. During the framework’s development, Singapore Polytechnic brought in local small and medium-sized enterprises JM Vistec and CADVision Systems as pilot subjects to evaluate its overall clarity, structure, and real-world applicability across various business scenarios. Feedback from both SMEs confirmed that the structured model assists smaller enterprises in pinpointing risks, reinforcing governance structures, and boosting client trust without disrupting ongoing business continuity.
Training will support implementation inside companies
Designed to translate theoretical requirements into practical skills, Singapore Polytechnic’s Industrial AI and Governance Literacy programme will cater to graduates, adult learners, and industry partners alike. The training centres on developing the specific workforce capabilities required to safely operate and govern artificial intelligence within complex industrial environments.

As the founding training partner of the TIA-Ready Framework, SP will help translate industry collaboration into practical workforce capability, so our graduates, adult learners and industry partners can thrive in an AI-driven economy,” said Soh Wai Wah, Principal and CEO of Singapore Polytechnic.
This educational initiative is bolstered by a broader array of strategic partnerships that Singapore Polytechnic formalised during the conference. Covering critical sectors such as advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, automation, sustainability, aviation, robotics, and regional business growth, these agreements involve a wide range of organisations. Key participating entities include Dassault Systèmes, CADVision Systems, the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, GlobalFoundries, SMC Corporation Singapore, Women in Aviation Singapore Chapter, Stolz Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Advantech, and GloboAI Robotics. Through these strategic ties, students, staff, and adult learners will gain access to internships, industry attachments, and firsthand exposure to cutting-edge tools such as agentic AI. Furthermore, the alliances seek to expand talent pipelines across core technical fields while supporting regional opportunities linked to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
Partnerships add sector-specific training programmes
Under its agreement with semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries, Singapore Polytechnic expects to train more than 2,000 employees to accelerate the company’s ongoing digital transformation goals.
A separate tripartite arrangement involving Dassault Systèmes and CADVision Systems marks the polytechnic as the first institute of higher learning in Singapore to deploy the 3DEXPERIENCE Works for Startups and SOLIDWORKS SkillForce initiatives. In addition, the institution becomes the country’s first higher learning institute recognised as a SOLIDWORKS Authorised Training Centre, expanding local educational capacity across industrial AI, advanced engineering, and manufacturing design.
Regional economic growth also featured prominently on the agenda. Dedicated conference sessions examined business expansion through the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone as well as technological cooperation with China in fields such as space technology. Overall, the two-day gathering drew delegates from eight countries, faculty and students representing more than ten institutes of higher learning, over 50 domain experts, and 35 solution exhibitors.
Alongside the main conference, a dedicated manufacturing and aviation career fair hosted over 30 employers offering more than 1,300 job vacancies. Attracting upwards of 600 job seekers, graduates, and alumni, the fair provided tailored career coaching, employability advice, and AI-enabled career support tools.
