TikTok Shop plans training for 1,000 Singapore sellers and 3,000 creators
Following strong GMV and buyer growth highlighted at its Singapore Summit, TikTok Shop is expanding local live commerce capabilities with separate training targets for sellers and creators.
TikTok Shop plans to train at least 1,000 Singapore sellers by the end of 2027 while expanding support to over 3,000 creators by the end of 2026 through programmes covering content creation, LIVE selling, and affiliate commerce. Announced during the inaugural TikTok Shop Singapore Summit, a full-day hybrid gathering of more than 1,500 sellers, creators, and ecosystem partners, the targets reflect rapid platform expansion in Singapore. Over the past year, gross merchandise value for the platform in Singapore grew 1.7 times year on year, accompanied by a 1.6 times increase in monthly buyers.
To sustain this growth, the new initiatives divide support between sellers establishing content-led commerce operations and creators sharpening their hosting, short-form video, and affiliate skills. TikTok Shop is expanding both groups together because merchants require capable people to produce and present commerce content, whereas creators need access to active businesses and products to support paid work.
Sellers build dedicated LIVE commerce teams
To assist eligible merchants, TikTok Shop highlighted structured options such as the GO LIVE Academy and the Growth Accelerator Programme. These initiatives form part of a broader push to help businesses master the fundamentals of LIVE selling, strengthen content capabilities, and establish consistent daily commerce operations.
The development of Singapore fashion brand Young Hungry Free demonstrates how these operations can expand within an enterprise. The brand originally assigned its LIVE selling efforts to a single full-time employee who handled broadcasts alongside her existing responsibilities. Over time, that initial commitment grew into a dedicated LIVE commerce team featuring more than 10 members. Company leaders noted that TikTok Shop helped the business reach buyers through content-led streams and build a community around its products, illustrating the level of internal commitment required once LIVE selling evolves from an occasional activity into a regular sales channel.
A contrasting adoption path unfolded at Kim’s Duet, a Singapore coffee brand by Kim Guan Guan. The second-generation family business utilised TikTok Shop’s onboarding support and Growth Accelerator Programme to refine its strategy, test alternate broadcast times, and cultivate an online community.
Nevin Soon, Second-Generation Coffee Manufacturer and Management Associate, said, “As a traditional coffee roastery stepping into the digital space, learning to navigate LIVE commerce was a steep learning curve for us. Through TikTok Shop’s onboarding and its Growth Accelerator programme, the TikTok Shop team helped us refine our strategy, experiment with different time slots, and build a real community online. Since then, we’ve achieved a 42% month-on-month GMV growth in June 2026, a huge milestone for us. It reinforces our belief that, with the right tools, training, and support, traditional local brands can build strong, sustainable momentum online.”
Although this reported increase covers a single month, the example provides a clearer view of how training is applied as a traditional coffee business adjusts its content schedule and sales approach to LIVE commerce.
Creator programmes cover hosting, affiliates and short video
TikTok Shop is concurrently cultivating a larger pool of creators who can work with sellers across multiple content formats. Its three creator programmes focus separately on professional LIVE hosting, affiliate-led commerce, and short-form product storytelling.
Under these tracks, the LIVE Host Academy trains aspiring professional hosts in the presentation and sales skills used in LIVE commerce, while connecting participants with sellers seeking people to host their broadcasts. For creators building businesses through product recommendations, the Affiliate Accelerator provides training in LIVE selling and short-form content, together with opportunities to connect with sellers and earn through affiliate activity. Meanwhile, the Short Video Programme supports emerging creators specialising in short-form content, equipping them with product storytelling resources, creator manager support, and opportunities to collaborate with sellers.
TikTok Shop aims to support more than 3,000 creators through these programmes by the end of 2026. LIVE viewership on TikTok Shop in Singapore increased by 150% year on year, strengthening the case for a larger pool of trained hosts and content creators. These creator programmes give sellers several ways to expand their content output, whether by engaging professional hosts for LIVE sessions, partnering with affiliate creators who recommend products to their audiences, or working with short-form specialists producing product-led videos.
