Wego is broadening its collaboration with payments technology company Juspay as the online travel marketplace establishes a presence in additional markets across the Middle East. Both companies are concentrating on streamlining how Wego incorporates local payment providers and payment methods alongside its wider regional expansion. Juspay’s dedicated payment orchestration layer underpins this effort by linking acquirers, banks, payment service providers, and regional payment options into a shared operational framework.

Equipped with this unified system, Wego can tailor its digital checkout to match the distinct ways travellers prefer to pay across separate jurisdictions. This flexibility ensures that local payment preferences do not become a barrier to regional growth.

Wego adapts checkout options across markets

Wego serves millions of travellers across the Middle East and North Africa, allowing users to search, compare, and book flights and hotels from hundreds of airlines, hospitality chains, and online travel agencies. Across these regional markets, payment preferences differ considerably, ranging from conventional credit and debit cards to mobile digital wallets and unique domestic payment mechanisms. Through the expanded alliance, Wego can integrate payment partners far more efficiently and calibrate its digital checkout experience to match the commercial customs of each individual destination.

In addition to smooth onboarding, Wego credits the collaboration with driving notable gains in payment authorisation rates. The infrastructure applies intelligent transaction routing, 3D Secure optimisation, and automated retries to direct payments between providers, while unified error mapping provides cross-gateway visibility to identify and resolve transaction failures rapidly.

Alexandre Morin, Director Payments, Risk & Fintech at Wego, said, “Wego has built its leadership in MENA by understanding how travellers across the region search, compare, and book travel, and by continuously adapting our platform to their evolving needs. Payments are an important part of that experience. As we scale across markets with different payment behaviours, our partnership with Juspay gives us the flexibility to offer more locally relevant ways to pay while maintaining a simple and reliable booking journey. This is part of our broader commitment to using technology and local market insight to make travel easier and more accessible for our users.”

Juspay connects Wego with more payment providers

Juspay’s platform can link Wego to more than 300 payment service providers and acquirers across the globe. This expansive connectivity enables the travel marketplace to introduce regional payment methods without having to engineer bespoke, complex technical integrations for each individual provider. Furthermore, the architecture manages the routing of transactions between different payment partners and initiates automated retries for eligible failed payments. As Wego scales into territories with contrasting customer habits and disparate financial infrastructure, it can dynamically adjust its payment setup to maintain seamless transaction processing.

These orchestration capabilities draw on substantial operational scale. Across its wider infrastructure, Juspay processes more than 300 million transactions every day, handles upwards of US$1 trillion in annualised Total Payment Volume, and maintains a claimed uptime of 99.999%.

Nakul Kothari, Head of APAC & Middle East at Juspay, said, “Travel payments need to work reliably across markets where customer preferences and payment infrastructure can vary significantly. Wego’s scale and deep understanding of travellers across the Middle East make this an important partnership for us. By combining that regional expertise with our payment orchestration technology, we can help Wego adapt to local payment ecosystems while supporting a consistent experience as the business continues to grow.”

Looking ahead, Wego and Juspay intend to keep co-developing payment solutions as the travel marketplace broadens its reach both across the region and globally. This ongoing technical collaboration will continue to evolve alongside shifting commercial priorities and changing traveller expectations.
