Central to the announcement is a deeper collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica. The partnership has evolved from a joint research and development framework into what the companies describe as a Strategic Co-creation Model, signalling closer integration across optical design, software tuning and user experience. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi are the first devices developed under this expanded approach.
Imaging takes centre stage with Leica integration
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra introduces Xiaomi’s first 1-inch LOFIC main camera sensor, the Light Fusion 1050L, designed to increase full-well capacity and support enhanced HDR performance. The device is equipped with a Leica 200MP 75–100mm telephoto camera featuring mechanical optical zoom across that focal range. Through advanced sensor technology, it extends to a 400mm equivalent focal length, supporting long-range photography while maintaining image quality.
Video capabilities are equally ambitious. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra supports 8K recording at 30fps and offers Dolby Vision and ACES Log recording at up to 4K 120fps on both main and telephoto cameras. The aim is to position the device not only as a still photography tool, but as a platform for cinema-grade mobile videography.
The standard Xiaomi 17 adopts a Light Fusion 950 image sensor with a 1/1.31-inch size and 2.4μm 4-in-1 Super Pixel configuration, delivering up to 13.5EV dynamic range. It features a Leica 60mm floating telephoto lens with 10cm macro capability and 20x AI Ultra Zoom, as well as a 50MP front camera with improved autofocus. Video recording includes 4K 60fps Dolby Vision and 4K 60fps Log capture.
For photography enthusiasts, Xiaomi is offering the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit Pro. The accessory adds a 2,000mAh battery, a detachable shutter button and a PU leather grip reminiscent of classic Leica camera bodies. It is compatible with both the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.
Refined design, flagship performance and battery capacity
The Xiaomi 17 Series adopts a minimalist aesthetic defined by slim bezels enabled by LIPO manufacturing techniques and what Xiaomi calls Golden Arc curves. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra measures 8.29mm in thickness and weighs from 218.4g, making it the thinnest and lightest Ultra model in the company’s portfolio to date. It is available in Black, White and Starlit Green, and incorporates Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0, a high-strength fibreglass back, an aluminium alloy frame and IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
The Xiaomi 17 measures 8.06mm thick and weighs 191g. It is offered in Black, Venture Green, Alpine Pink and Ice Blue. Like its Ultra counterpart, it features Xiaomi Guardian Structure, including a 6M42 aluminium frame, Xiaomi Shield Glass and IP68 certification.
Both devices run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform built on a 3nm process, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. The Xiaomi 17 is available with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi offer configurations with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
Battery capacity is a defining feature of this generation. The Xiaomi 17 houses a 6,330mAh Xiaomi Surge Battery with 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless charging support. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra integrates a 6,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi states that the new-generation battery features 16% silicon content to improve energy density and longevity, allowing higher capacity without increasing bulk.
Displays across the series are built on custom OLED panels with peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits and adaptive 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rates. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra debuts a Xiaomi HyperRGB OLED panel with a redesigned subpixel layout intended to enhance clarity and optimise power efficiency. Both devices support HDR10+, Dolby Vision and TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free and circadian-friendly performance.
Leica Leitzphone and a wider ecosystem push

Marking Leica’s 100-year anniversary, the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi brings Leica’s design language and photographic philosophy into a dedicated device. It features an aluminium-alloy body with a nickel-anodised finish and introduces a Leica Camera Ring, a physical dial with knurled detailing designed to evoke a traditional zoom lens. The device also includes Leica Essential mode, recreating the image characteristics of iconic Leica cameras such as the Leica M9 and Leica M3 with MONOPAN 50 film simulation.
Beyond smartphones, Xiaomi used the launch to introduce the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept, developed in collaboration with Polyphony Digital for Gran Turismo 7. Unveiled by Tianyuan Li, Design Head of Xiaomi EV, the electric hypercar concept focuses on aerodynamic balance. “Electric hypercars must answer a fundamental question,” Li said. “Do we pursue extreme low drag for straight-line speed, or maximum downforce to conquer corners? The optimal solution lies in finding the perfect balance between the two.” Kazunori Yamauchi, Producer of the Gran Turismo series, added, “When I saw that Xiaomi had resolved the contradiction between low drag and high downforce, I was truly amazed.”
The Xiaomi 17 Series will be available via mi.com, official stores on Shopee and Lazada, and Xiaomi Stores in Singapore. Pricing starts at S$1,249 for the Xiaomi 17 (12GB+512GB), S$1,799 for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra (16GB+512GB), and S$2,299 for the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi (16GB+1TB). Pre-orders run from 28 February to 6 March 2026, with promotional offers including discounted retail prices and bundled accessories. From 7 March to 22 March 2026, selected purchases of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi will include a complimentary Xiaomi 17 Ultra Photography Kit Pro, while stocks last.
