Adobe MAX 2024 unveils groundbreaking updates to Photoshop and Illustrator

Discover Adobe MAX 2024 updates for Photoshop and Illustrator, including AI-powered tools for faster, more creative workflows.

At Adobe MAX 2024, Adobe announced exciting updates to its renowned creative tools, Photoshop and Illustrator. The new features, primarily powered by artificial intelligence (AI), aim to improve efficiency, precision, and creativity, making it easier for designers to bring their ideas to life. These advancements are expected to streamline workflows, giving you more control over your projects and speeding up your creative process.

Senior VP of Digital Media at Adobe Ashley Still commented, “The world’s most creative people across industries trust Photoshop and Illustrator to help them realise their visions in stunning and breathtaking ways. We’re thrilled to introduce transformative innovations across our flagship design apps that give the creative community the most powerful creative tools yet.”

Major innovations in Photoshop

Photoshop’s latest version introduces several new tools that focus on improving your daily workflow. A standout feature is the Remove Tool, which now includes Distraction Removal technology. This tool simplifies removing unwanted objects like people, wires, or cables. It saves you time by eliminating the need for manual edits. During a live demo at Adobe MAX, it was clear how easy this tool is to use – you don’t even have to highlight the object; the tool automatically detects and removes it with a single click.

Another key addition is the Generative Workspace (beta), powered by Adobe Firefly. This new workspace allows you to brainstorm and refine ideas quickly. By allowing you to explore different creative directions at once, the Generative Workspace helps you achieve polished results faster than before.

The new version also integrates with the Substance 3D Viewer app (beta), which expands the possibilities of blending 2D and 3D assets. You can now incorporate editable 3D Smart Objects directly into your 2D designs, offering more flexibility and creativity in your projects.

In addition to these updates, Adobe has made its generative AI tools, including Generative Fill and Generative Expand, widely available. Powered by the Firefly Image 3 Model, these tools allow you to create content faster and more accurately, producing high-quality visuals in less time.

Illustrator enhancements improve speed and accuracy

Illustrator has also received several updates designed to improve your design process. One of the most exciting new features is Objects on Path, which allows you to place, arrange, and move objects along any path with incredible accuracy. This feature reduces the time spent manually adjusting designs, letting you focus more on creativity.

The Enhanced Image Trace tool has also been improved, making it easier to convert graphics into vectors. This is particularly useful for complex illustrations, as it simplifies the process of turning detailed designs into scalable vector images. Another notable feature is the Generative Shape Fill (beta), which allows you to generate detailed vector shapes using text prompts. This AI-powered tool, like those in Photoshop, aims to streamline your workflow and boost productivity.

Mockup is another powerful new feature in Illustrator. It enables you to create visual prototypes of your designs on real-world objects like packaging or clothing. This tool automatically adjusts your artwork to fit the shape of 3D objects, making it easy to produce realistic mockups in just a few steps.

In addition to these new creative tools, Illustrator has seen performance improvements, such as Enclosed Selection Mode for the Rectangular Marquee tool, Export as PDF functionality, and Quick Gradient Creation. These updates are designed to make your workflow smoother and more efficient, whether you’re working on simple or complex projects.

Global availability of updates

These latest updates for Photoshop and Illustrator are available globally as of today. Adobe MAX 2024 introduced over 100 updates and improvements across Adobe’s Creative Cloud suite.
