Anthropic will open an office in Singapore in October, establishing a fifth operational hub across the Asia-Pacific region alongside existing locations in Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul and Sydney. The new site will expand the company’s regional workforce while deepening dedicated support for enterprise clients. Locally, teams will collaborate closely with startups, digital-native firms, large enterprises and public-sector organisations.
Client demand for Claude has proved particularly pronounced in regulated fields, notably financial services and government. To mark the launch, senior Anthropic executives are scheduled to visit Singapore to meet directly with customers, regional partners and policymakers.
Singapore ranks highly for Claude usage
Singapore’s intensive adoption of Claude served as a principal reason for establishing a permanent office in the country. According to Anthropic’s most recent Economic Index, the city-state ranks second among 121 evaluated nations for Claude.ai usage relative to population. Overall activity in the country is 5.81 times higher than expected based on its population size.
“As we grow across Asia-Pacific, opening an office in Singapore, where Claude usage per capita is among the highest in the world, is a natural next step,” said Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International at Anthropic. “A presence here means we can hire the people who know this market best, and work side by side with local customers and partners building with Claude.”
Beyond impressive user metrics, the company pointed to Singapore’s concentration of technical talent, multinational businesses and research institutions, combined with a sustained national focus on responsible AI adoption. Countrywide initiatives to integrate artificial intelligence across industries and enhance workforce capabilities align directly with Anthropic’s approach to AI development and deployment. As its presence takes root, Anthropic plans to work in close partnership with local policymakers, research institutions and industry players.
Dale Finlay to lead ASEAN operations
To direct regional expansion, Anthropic has appointed Dale Finlay as General Manager of ASEAN, based in Singapore, where he will oversee customer and partner relationships across Southeast Asia. Finlay brings substantial leadership experience from across the Asia-Pacific technology sector, including nearly a decade at Google Cloud in roles focused on AI, financial services and enterprise business.
“From working with customers across Southeast Asia, I’ve seen that ambition isn’t the blocker to AI adoption; trust is. Once that trust exists, the real work is embedding AI into how the business actually operates,” said Finlay. “Anthropic has built Claude around exactly those standards, and I look forward to working with customers here as they bring Claude into their most important work.”
Alongside this leadership appointment, Anthropic is actively hiring for a range of positions in Singapore. The ongoing recruitment drive will assemble the local team needed to drive its regional initiatives and support enterprise clients.
