Boox launches Tappy wireless remote for e-readers and Android devices

Boox has introduced a new wireless remote control called Tappy, aimed at making it easier for users to turn pages, scroll through content and control audio playback on compatible devices. The accessory has been designed primarily for e-readers and e-ink tablets, as the company continues to expand its ecosystem of digital reading products.

The launch comes as e-ink devices become increasingly popular among readers seeking displays that reduce eye strain during long periods of use. Boox, known for its range of e-ink tablets and monitors, said the new accessory is intended to enhance convenience for users who prefer to operate their devices remotely.

Designed for hands-free reading and browsing

Tappy has been created for situations where an e-reader or tablet is mounted on a stand or positioned away from the user. In these cases, repeatedly reaching towards the screen to turn pages or scroll through documents can become inconvenient, particularly during long reading sessions.

The compact remote connects to Boox products and other supported Android devices through Bluetooth. Users can hold the device in their hand or place it in their palm for quick, discreet access. Boox said the remote includes three operating modes, each tailored for different tasks. A 95 mAh battery powers the remote via a built-in USB-C port. Boox said a full charge should provide enough power to last for several weeks of regular use, reducing the need for frequent charging.

The company has also added some customisation options to the accessory. Tappy is available in green and orange colour variants, and the package includes two spare keycaps. The interchangeable keycaps allow users to personalise the device’s appearance or replace worn parts over time.

Boox has not announced any advanced software features or app integrations for the remote. Instead, the product appears to focus on delivering straightforward controls that work across multiple supported Android devices without complex setup.
