Boox launches Tappy wireless remote for e-readers and Android devices
Boox has launched Tappy, a Bluetooth remote for e-readers and Android devices with page-turning and scrolling controls.
Boox has introduced a new wireless remote control called Tappy, aimed at making it easier for users to turn pages, scroll through content and control audio playback on compatible devices. The accessory has been designed primarily for e-readers and e-ink tablets, as the company continues to expand its ecosystem of digital reading products.

The launch comes as e-ink devices become increasingly popular among readers seeking displays that reduce eye strain during long periods of use. Boox, known for its range of e-ink tablets and monitors, said the new accessory is intended to enhance convenience for users who prefer to operate their devices remotely.
Designed for hands-free reading and browsing
Tappy has been created for situations where an e-reader or tablet is mounted on a stand or positioned away from the user. In these cases, repeatedly reaching towards the screen to turn pages or scroll through documents can become inconvenient, particularly during long reading sessions.
The compact remote connects to Boox products and other supported Android devices through Bluetooth. Users can hold the device in their hand or place it in their palm for quick, discreet access. The company has focused on making the accessory small and lightweight, allowing it to be used comfortably for extended periods.
Boox said the remote includes three operating modes, each tailored for different tasks. In reading mode, the buttons function as page-turn controls, allowing users to move forward or backwards through digital books and documents. Browsing mode enables vertical scrolling for websites and other content, while listening mode lets users skip forward or backwards through audio playback.
An indicator light on the device shows which mode is currently active. This feature is intended to help users switch quickly between functions without confusion, especially when moving between reading, browsing and listening activities on the same device.
Long battery life and simple connectivity
According to Boox, Tappy offers a wireless range of up to 33 feet, giving users flexibility when operating connected devices. This may be useful for people reading while exercising, relaxing in bed or using a mounted display at a desk.
A 95 mAh battery powers the remote via a built-in USB-C port. Boox said a full charge should provide enough power to last for several weeks of regular use, reducing the need for frequent charging.
The company has also added some customisation options to the accessory. Tappy is available in green and orange colour variants, and the package includes two spare keycaps. The interchangeable keycaps allow users to personalise the device’s appearance or replace worn parts over time.
Boox has not announced any advanced software features or app integrations for the remote. Instead, the product appears to focus on delivering straightforward controls that work across multiple supported Android devices without complex setup.
Growing demand for e-ink accessories
The release of Tappy reflects the broader growth of the e-ink market, where manufacturers are increasingly expanding beyond core hardware products to offer accessories that improve the overall user experience. As more consumers adopt digital reading devices for books, note-taking and productivity tasks, demand for companion accessories has also increased.
Wireless page-turning devices have become particularly popular among readers who use stands or holders while studying, cooking or exercising. Similar accessories are often used by musicians, presenters and people with accessibility needs who benefit from hands-free device control.
Boox has steadily expanded its range of e-ink products in recent years, introducing devices aimed at readers, students and professionals. The company’s products compete in a growing market for digital notebooks, e-readers, and portable e-ink monitors, which offer reduced eye strain and improved battery efficiency compared with traditional displays.
Tappy is now available for purchase at US$26. With its simple controls, Bluetooth connectivity and long battery life, the accessory is positioned as a practical addition for users looking to make reading and browsing on e-ink devices more convenient.
