ChatGPT users can now create up to two images daily with DALL-E 3 on the free tier

OpenAI now allows ChatGPT-free users to create up to two images daily with DALL-E 3, expanding access to advanced AI tools.

OpenAI has announced that users of the free tier of ChatGPT can now generate up to two images per day using its advanced DALL-E 3 model. Previously, this capability was exclusively available to those who subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, but the new update opens the feature to a broader audience.

A new way to create images

One of the standout features of DALL-E 3 is its integration with ChatGPT, which can assist you in crafting detailed prompts to generate images. This collaboration between ChatGPT and DALL-E 3 simplifies the image creation process, making it accessible even if you’re not a seasoned designer. For instance, in a demonstration by Aditya Ramesh, lead researcher and head of the DALL-E team, ChatGPT was used to create a logo for a ramen restaurant nestled in the mountains. ChatGPT generated a detailed prompt by simply describing the concept, which DALL-E 3 then used to produce four unique logo designs.

This seamless integration between text and image generation is one of the key improvements that DALL-E 3 brings. It eliminates much of the guesswork in creating prompts, allowing you to focus more on the creative aspects of your project. Whether you need a logo, an illustration, or a fun image, the process is now more intuitive and user-friendly.

Rolling out to all users

OpenAI has confirmed that the rollout of DALL-E 3 for free users is already underway. The day the DALL-E 3 update was revealed, a safety assessment for the GPT-4 model, another key product in OpenAI’s lineup, was also released. Additionally, the company has expanded its leadership team by adding a new board member. Meanwhile, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman received a letter from Democratic members of Congress urging him to address concerns regarding the company’s safety practices.

These developments underscore the dynamic and rapidly evolving landscape of AI technology. As OpenAI continues to refine and expand its offerings, accessibility and safety are at the forefront of its mission. Introducing DALL-E 3 to the free tier of ChatGPT is a significant step in making powerful AI tools available to a broader audience, fostering creativity, and enhancing the user experience.

Whether you’re a casual user or a professional looking for quick and creative image solutions, the new DALL-E 3 feature on the free tier of ChatGPT offers a practical and exciting tool to explore your ideas visually.
