Everything you need to know about Venom: Let There Be Carnage!

[output_post_excerpt]

Venom 2 has received a new release date, and it will not hit the theaters until next year. Woody Harrelson resumes his role as Cletus Kasady. Tom Hardy, Reid Scott, and Michelle Williams will all return in the sequel. Joining the cast is Naomie Harris.

Venom sequel release date

Originally, Venom: Let There Be Carnage was originally scheduled to be released in October this year, but now it will be released on June 25, 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Venom sequel will follow another Spiderman spin-off feature, Morbius, which will premiere three months earlier on March 2021.

Woody Harrelson gave us a view of how Carnage will look in Venom 2 in a photo he uploaded on his Instagram n February. However, the photo was short-lived, although it still spanked plenty of discussions online. The photo did not reveal Carnage’s signature, black and red symbiote guise, a variation on Venom’s own, white and black.

The precious director

Serkis will be directing this film, and you probably already know him from his work in The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and War for the Planet of the Apes. He was behind the characters Gollum, Ceaser, and Snoke from the named movies.

While Serkis is famous in Hollywood for his development of characters, he also has some experience in directing. In 2017, he released his first film feature, Breathe, which featured The Crown’s, Claire Foy.

Eddie Brock’s sophomore outing is to be written by Kelly Marcel, who is credited for other movies such as Saving Mister Banks and Fifty Shades of Grey.

The cast

True detective’s star Woody Harrelson who appeared in post-credit of the first Venom film as Cletus Kasady, will return in the sequel as the murderous red symbiote Carnage. Michelle Williams will resume her role as Eddie’s fiancé, Anne Weyin. Reid Scott will reprise his role as Dan Lewis.

Skyfall’s Naomie Harris will join the cast as Shriek, a psychopathic villain who becomes Kasady’s love interest in the comics.

Other films

Venom 2 is only the beginning of the great plans Sony has for us. Sony is currently developing other action films based on supporting Spiderman characters such as Morbius the living vampire, Madame Web, and the Black Cat, among others. It is also planning a spin-off for the Oscar-winning Spiderman into the spider-verse.

There is a possibility that our favorite Spiderman actor, Tom Holland may join Sony’s mini Marvel Universe and possibly make a cameo for the Venom sequel. In the new deal between Sony and Disney, Spider-Man is free to be part of both universes.
