Fortify your business: How Samsung Knox helps protect your data and mobile security

Samsung Knox protects Galaxy devices with built-in mobile security, safe folders, malware defence, and long-term software updates.

In today’s mobile-first world, keeping your data safe is more important than ever. With mobile threats rising, you could be one download away from falling victim to scams or identity theft. People in Singapore lost a record US$1.1 billion to scams in the past year – a massive 70% increase from the US$651.8 million lost in 2023.

The open nature of Android platforms gives you great freedom to personalise your device, but that same openness can also attract cyber criminals. If you’re using an Android phone, the risk is higher because you can install apps from places outside the official store. This flexibility is handy but can also open the door to threats.

Mobile security must be a top priority – not an afterthought to stay safe in this digital world.

Keep your personal and work data secure

Your mobile phone holds more than messages and pictures. It also stores confidential work files, private images, and sensitive data. Without the proper protection, anyone—from a nosy friend to a skilled hacker—could access this information.

Samsung offers a smart solution called Samsung Knox, which is built directly into the hardware of your Galaxy device. It’s been certified by more governments and third-party bodies than any other device or system, protecting over two billion devices globally and supporting over 35,000 businesses.

With features like Secure Folder, you can keep important data safe in a locked, encrypted space separate from the rest of your phone. Even if someone manages to access your device, your most private content stays hidden.

If you need to send your phone for repair, Maintenance Mode prevents anyone from viewing your personal information, such as photos, messages, or contacts.

Businesses can activate Android Work Profile for work devices, which separates work apps and content from personal ones. You can use the same phone for both work and home without either side crossing over. A secure folder and work profile can even exist side-by-side, helping you manage your life and work without compromising privacy.

Stay safe from harmful apps and downloads

While most people use trusted app stores, some choose to download apps from other websites – a process called sideloading. This can be risky. Apps from unofficial sources often carry malware that can spy on your data or take control of your device.

To fight this, Samsung has introduced Auto Blocker with Galaxy devices running Android 14 or later. This feature is part of One UI 6.0 and is switched on automatically. It blocks apps from being installed from unknown sources and detects malware to help you stay protected.

Samsung is also working with Google and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore to test a new system that blocks downloads from unverified sources. With Knox, you’re already ahead of the game with layers of defence.

Knox also provides runtime protection and a tamper fuse, which watches your device in real time and stops unauthorised changes. If someone sends you a harmful image file on apps like WhatsApp or Telegram, Samsung Message Guard steps in to isolate and safely scan it before it can do any damage.

For business users, Samsung has teamed up with Microsoft to offer remote tools that let IT teams check whether their phones have been compromised. Thanks to on-device, hardware-based verification, this works on work and personal phones.

Get security updates that keep you ahead

Many users delay or ignore software updates, not realising that these often include important fixes for known security flaws. If you’re one of them, your device could be at risk.

That’s why Samsung is committed to keeping your device secure in the long run. All Galaxy devices released since 2024 – even mid-range ones – come with up to seven years of security and software updates, no matter your carrier. The new Galaxy S25 Series goes even further, with eight years of support planned.

Samsung Knox works silently in the background, ensuring your phone is always protected—whether handling your files or managing an entire business network.

In a world where mobile threats continue growing, Samsung Knox is your silent partner in keeping your data and peace of mind intact.
