Prepare for an exciting update as Genshin Impact Version 5.3, Incandescent Ode of Resurrection, launches on January 1, 2025. This update introduces the much-anticipated Pyro Archon, Mavuika, alongside new characters, events, and gameplay features.

New characters and banners to explore

Version 5.3 finally brings Mavuika, the Pyro Archon, to the game as a playable character through the Event Wishes banner. A Pyro claymore user, Mavuika is known for her unique Flamestrider—a motorcycle-like design that features in her Elemental Skill. First teased with Natlan’s introduction and revealed in a July trailer, fans have eagerly awaited her.

Alongside Mavuika, a new 5-star character, Citlali, will also debut. Citlali is a cryo catalyst user focused on support, offering cryo shields and a passive ability to lower pyro and hydro resistance for enemies affected by frozen or melting reactions. Mavuika and Citlali will be available during the first half of Version 5.3’s banners.

In the second half, the banners will feature Arlecchino and Clorinde reruns and the introduction of Lan Yan, a new 4-star Anemo catalyst user. Lan Yan’s Swallow-Wisp Shield adapts to the element it absorbs, providing versatile damage mitigation. Meanwhile, the Chronicled Wish banner will return, allowing players to summon Ganyu, Shenhe, and other beloved characters.

Major story progression and thrilling events

The update will continue Genshin Impact’s main storyline with the fifth act of Natlan’s Archon Quest chapter. Act V will explore the aftermath of the Abyss invasion of Natlan, culminating in a battle with a new boss, the Abyssal Mimic Dragon, known as the “Lord of Eroded Primal Fire.”

Players can also look forward to the return of the Lantern Rite event, Genshin’s popular New Year celebration. This festive Event will include mini-games like the block-clearing Immortal Combat, gift envelopes, and a combat challenge with Strategem buffs. Reaching certain Festive Fever levels, such as Xiangling’s “New Year’s Cheer” outfit, will unlock rewards. Additionally, Hu Tao will receive a new outfit, “Cherries Snow-Laden,” available at a discounted price during the Event.

Rewards don’t stop there—players will receive 1,600 Primogems, a free glider, and 10 Intertwined Wishes through login bonuses. Completing the Lantern Rite event will also grant you a free 4-star Liyue character.

New features and quality-of-life improvements

Version 5.3 introduces a permanent rhythm game mode, Envisaged Echo cosmetics for Kazuha and Ganyu, and several updates to improve gameplay. The artefact inventory limit will expand to 2,100, and respawn times for enemy bosses will be adjusted, making it easier to gather character level-up materials. The Training Guide will also include a direct button for quick access and more straightforward overviews.
