Google appears to be preparing a new mid-range fitness tracker called the Fitbit Edge, with leaked details suggesting it will sit between the company’s entry-level Fitbit Air and the Pixel Watch 5. The device is expected to combine the compact design associated with Fitbit’s traditional trackers with several features normally found on more advanced smartwatches.
Android Headlines has reportedly published the first images and specifications of the Fitbit Edge. The leak provides an early look at the tracker, including its small display and possible colour options. While Google has not officially announced the device, the reported details suggest that it could become a successor to the Fitbit Charge line, which has not received a new model since 2023.
Fitbit Edge could bring a familiar tracker design with more features
The leaked Fitbit Edge appears to feature a small screen, placing it closer to the Fitbit Charge family than to Google’s full-sized Pixel Watch range. A display would let users view fitness information, notifications, and other data directly on the device rather than relying entirely on a connected smartphone.
The tracker is also expected to include built-in GPS, an altimeter and support for a limited selection of applications. Google Maps and YouTube Music are among the services reportedly supported, giving the device some smartwatch functionality without making it as feature-heavy as the Pixel Watch 5.
Battery life could be one of the Fitbit Edge’s main advantages. According to the leaked information, the tracker may last up to seven days on a single charge. That would make it considerably more focused on long-term fitness and health tracking than a traditional smartwatch, which generally requires charging more frequently.
The reported specifications position the Fitbit Edge as a more capable alternative to the Fitbit Air. At the same time, its smaller size and longer battery life could appeal to people who do not need the full range of smartwatch features offered by the Pixel Watch 5.
Pixel 11 colours could extend to Google’s new fitness tracker
The Fitbit Edge may also follow Google’s broader hardware design strategy by being offered in colours associated with the upcoming Pixel 11 smartphone range. The leaked options reportedly include Rose Peach and Olive, potentially giving the tracker a more distinctive appearance than previous Fitbit models.
Colour coordination across Google’s hardware products would allow the company to position Fitbit more closely within its wider device ecosystem. However, the Fitbit Edge is expected to retain an important advantage over Google’s Pixel Watch line: compatibility with both Android and iOS.
The Pixel Watch 5 is designed for Android users and does not support iPhone connectivity. By contrast, continued iOS compatibility would allow the Fitbit Edge to target a much wider audience, including people who want Fitbit’s health and fitness features without switching smartphone platforms.
That cross-platform approach could matter especially for a mid-range product. Users who already own an iPhone but prefer Fitbit’s fitness tracking could choose the Edge without moving into Google’s wider Android ecosystem.
The combination of GPS, an altimeter, notifications, limited app support and extended battery life could therefore make the Fitbit Edge a middle ground between a conventional fitness tracker and a smartwatch. Its smaller screen would also help distinguish it from the Pixel Watch range while still offering several useful connected features.
Fitbit Edge could arrive for the 2026 holiday season
Google is reportedly preparing the Fitbit Edge for release in time for the 2026 holiday shopping season. This timing would let the company introduce the tracker alongside its other autumn hardware and target consumers looking for fitness devices as gifts.
Pricing has not been confirmed, although the leaked positioning provides some indication of where the Edge could sit. Previous Fitbit Charge models were priced between US$129 and US$179, and the new tracker could cost slightly more depending on its features and positioning.
A potential price of around US$150 to US$200 would place the Fitbit Edge between the US$100 Fitbit Air and the US$400 Pixel Watch 5. That would create a clear gap in Google’s wearable line-up, giving customers a device with more capabilities than the entry-level tracker without the higher cost and larger form factor of the company’s smartwatch.
The final specifications, price, release date and colour range remain unconfirmed. Google has not yet formally announced the Fitbit Edge, meaning the leaked information could change before launch. If the reported details prove accurate, however, the device could give Fitbit a renewed presence in the mid-range fitness tracker market while offering a practical alternative to the Pixel Watch for users who prioritise battery life and cross-platform compatibility.
