HUMAIN and Qualcomm Technologies have unveiled the Horizon Ultra AI PC, a new laptop designed to run artificial intelligence workloads directly on the device rather than relying entirely on cloud-based servers. The companies announced the system at LEAP 2026, presenting it as part of a wider effort to make AI processing more accessible at the personal computing level.

The Horizon Ultra is the result of more than a year of development between HUMAIN and Qualcomm Technologies. The first version will run Microsoft Windows, giving enterprise customers a familiar operating environment when the machine becomes available later this month. HUMAIN is also developing its own operating system for the platform, with HUMAIN OS expected to arrive on the same hardware line in 2027.
Snapdragon X2 Elite brings dedicated AI processing
At the centre of the Horizon Ultra is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite platform. The chip includes an 18-core Oryon CPU, an Adreno GPU and a Hexagon NPU, with each component designed to handle different types of computing workloads. This architecture lets the system distribute tasks between the processor, graphics hardware, and dedicated AI engine rather than relying on a single component.
The inclusion of the NPU is particularly important to the Horizon Ultra’s AI-focused design. It allows compatible AI models and workloads to be processed locally on the PC, reducing the need to send information to remote servers. For users handling sensitive business information, keeping more data on the device could provide greater control over how that information is processed.
Local AI processing can also reduce the delay associated with sending requests to a cloud service and waiting for a response. However, the Horizon Ultra is not designed to operate entirely without the cloud. When a workload requires more computing power than the PC can provide locally, the system can still connect to cloud-based resources.
HUMAIN CEO Tareq Amin described the broader objective as making intelligence a built-in part of the computing experience rather than treating AI as a service that a device accesses. The approach reflects a growing industry focus on hybrid AI systems, where local hardware handles suitable workloads while cloud infrastructure handles more demanding tasks.
Windows model arrives for enterprise customers
The first Horizon Ultra models will run Windows and are scheduled to become available to enterprise customers from 20 September 2026. AlFalak will manage sales and delivery for the initial launch, positioning the PC primarily towards organisations rather than the wider consumer market.
The Windows-based model is expected to provide businesses with an environment that works with familiar software and existing workflows. Its local AI capabilities could also make the system suitable for organisations that want to use AI features while keeping certain information on their own hardware. The balance between on-device and cloud processing will depend on the requirements of individual applications and workloads.
HUMAIN has not positioned the Windows model as the platform’s final version. Instead, the company plans to introduce HUMAIN OS on the same hardware line in 2027. The move would give HUMAIN greater control over the software environment and allow it to develop an operating system designed around its own AI services and infrastructure.
The planned operating system also indicates that the Horizon Ultra is part of a longer-term hardware and software strategy. Rather than launching a standalone AI laptop, HUMAIN is building a platform that can eventually connect its own operating system and AI technologies more closely with the underlying hardware.
Horizon Ultra forms part of HUMAIN’s wider AI strategy
The Horizon Ultra represents a move by HUMAIN to extend its AI ambitions beyond large-scale infrastructure and into personal computing. The company’s broader technology strategy includes data centres, cloud infrastructure, AI models and applications, with the AI PC providing a way to bring some of those capabilities directly to individual users.
Dedicated AI hardware has become an increasingly important part of modern PCs as manufacturers look to support generative AI and other machine-learning applications without sending every request to a remote data centre. Processing AI workloads locally can improve response times, privacy, and offline functionality, although demanding workloads may still require access to cloud computing.
For HUMAIN, bringing these capabilities to a PC also links its infrastructure to the devices businesses use. The Horizon Ultra can handle selected AI tasks locally while retaining the option of connecting to larger computing resources when necessary. This hybrid model could become increasingly common as AI features become a standard part of business software and personal computers.
The immediate focus will be the Windows version launching for enterprise customers on 20 September. The arrival of HUMAIN OS in 2027 will then provide a second stage for the platform, potentially allowing HUMAIN to build a more tightly integrated AI computing experience around its own software and services.
